So my computer here at work keeps quitting out of illy, and occasionally InDesign, with no apparent reason or pattern. The tech guys had been saying that this is "a common thing for illy on a mac," although they do admit that quitting 12 to 20 times a day is excessive.
I'm working on a 1.4ghz G4 with 1024 RAM with CS1.
Anybody know of anything pertinent. I'm suspicious that it might be a RAM problem, or it could be a problem with the HD which seems a bit loud to me.

Have you changed the scratch disc preferences?

I'll admit I've had Illy quit on me, but its like once a month... if that. 10-15 times a day is definately an issue. Sorry I can't help, but maybe on the Adobe (or Apple) support site you could find something.

Do you use a font manager? If so, clean out the font cache with OnyX
or FontFinagler. You may have a bad one, or a corrupt one in the cache
that those programs are trying to use. You may want to try trashing the
Illy preference files (or draging them to the deasktop after quitting the
application, then restarting the app). Are you running multiple
versions of any fonts? It could be a conflict.

Just some ideas. Most of that kind of behavior seems to be font or pref
related on my machine. Illy CS works great for me, while CS2 is a buggy POS
IMO.

I have illy quit on me about once a week. I have cs1 also... are you using the type tool alot??? I really think that this version of illy is really buggy. Mine quits mainly when i use the type tool or am really into a project and forget to save!!! ARGHGH I think its a software problem
