Monday! Monday! Monday! Surf's up for this weeks Graphic Design Challenge!

The character illustrations last week were amazing! Keep in mind, you're welcome to post in past challenges if you didn't get time or have an inspiration after the week is over.

The challenge runs from Monday to Monday. There is no voting or prizes unless you reward yourself, which you should, and often! Have fun and flex those creative muscles!

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE:

Thought we'd try a logo design this week. Can't wait to see what you come up for this one!

SPECS:
New surf board shop opening up. They've got a "1950's Hawaiian tourist tiki hut look" going on throughout the store. Selling boards, clothing, sun screen & lotions, all things surfing & beach related.

Name of the shop is "Moondoggie's Surf Hut".
They'd like an icon, image or character to go along with or around the text.

Here's one. I know it has a lot of gradients and colors but I figured it would look cool on the wall or a t-shirt or something. It's not very 50's either. :p I'm a relative n00b to vector graphics so the dog needs a little touching up.

edit: I just realized the name of the shop was "surf hut". Oh well, they'll have to live with Surf Shop. :D

Yay Kesh! The first one up! I think it's fun. There is an actual Moondoggie's Surf Shop in California. Maybe they'll get a few extra hits on their site this week. ;)

I'm still digging through my fonts to find the right one! Argh - there's good and bad to being a font hoarder.

You know the rules - no c&c's here - it's for fun and practice. :D

I don't quite remember the whole merlot infested thought process :D but basically goes like this...

Hey balou, you need to come up with a design challenge for tomorrow. We've done wine label, trading card, illustration - how about a logo? Sure! It's summer out - what would be a fun summer image? Hawaii, tiki, surfing, ocean - Surfing Shop. Surfing always reminds me of those old early 60's surfer movies and TV shows like Gidget. Hey balou, wasn't there a character named moondoggie on Gidget that was a surfer. *Googles moondoggie* Yeah, why do I remember that? Weird. How about a logo for Moondoggie's Surf Store. No. Moondoggie's Surf Hut. There! Quick, go google that. *Googles "moondoggie's surft hut"* Cool - nothing out there. I'll make sure I add a "fictional" disclaimer. Crap! Spilled wine on this shirt too!

thanks balou. that's my "Trooper". We planned our honeymoon around taking all 3 of our dogs with us. We went to the Outer Banks in NC. This is a pic of him riding the ferry to Ocracoke Island. I actually shopped in about 30 different surf shops in the last 12 days, so this was especially fun to me since I have been so bombarded with all the grooooovy beach designs lately!! thanks for the great challenge. ...now I better get started on this weeks..;)
