Hey, you know, I like it but... I'd like to see the inside match the outside more. I love your artwork on the front, the colors and the combo of impressionism and cubism. http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/thumbsup.gif (Gawd, I hope I'm not offending any art majors here because I never really studied art... so if I'm wrong on the genre, I apologize.)

Anyway, the front is very surreal and muted, while the inside seems cartoony. Angular and rough on the outside, circular and crisp on the inside.

If you take pieces from the front art and use them to create a border for the inside, that might tie it all together better. Or something. I'm sure others will have more ideas. http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/happy.gif

Oops - didn't mean to take credit for the front - I was just showing to give some idea of colors - I'm just redoing the inside of the menu.

I thought about the angular vs. rounded... but there are arches on the building...so I thought it might fly.

I really like it LTG! I think you have used alot of the colors inside that are in the cover and all the text is layed out nicely. It's nice and clean! Good spacing and subtle do dads ;o)

Only thing I noticed was on the right side in the 'from the sea' section...where the grilled shrimp with red chili butter is...the word 'perfection' is hyphenated. I would maybe go ahead and bump that word down to the next line.

Everything else it great...nice work on the layout!

thanks yleanna and d-zine

here's another idea based on yleanna's suggestion to bring the front inside - just ignore the blanks spaces cuz I took out the do-dads and haven't figured out what to do with the spaces yet. Tried to make the section headers more "archish".

Hehe, do-dads. :D

I like this one better. Maybe it's a personal preference but it's more muted and rustic than the first version so I think it goes with the front better. Did you also try having the picture as a background for the boxes rather than a picture inside them? I don't know if it will look better or not, having a hard time picturing it. I was just thinking it might make it easier to read if the picture was outside the boxes instead of inside.

But yeah, I like it. http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/thumbsup.gif Do you like it?

hmmm - not sure yet which I like better - maybe I'll just let the client decide which they like better. :) But thanks for the ideas to try - much appreciated Yleanna!

I got the rex x on the first ones...

Great design - nice contrasts everywhere - except the headers - you might want to make them stand out a little more somehow for - you know - us old folks

...a very talented nut tho!

Thanks Keyare! :)

I tried putting in a black drop shadow (kinda sloppily but you get the point) and making the lettering bigger - is that enough?

Then I tried white headers cuz I thought maybe that was what you meant but I'm not crazy 'bout those.

Wow, I really like the solid boxes with the picture as an overall background. And the drop 'shadow' on the headers. This case is closed! :D

On the orange top part the header is distorted a little not completly rounded, like the others.
