you don't get to get crazy with business cards very often, but when the client is a tattoo artist then i get to play a bit.

the questions are... Did i go to far? & will anyone know what a padawan is?

the requirments were him as a Jedi, the 2 tattoos of lightsabers, & the shop info.

I do like the jedi one but with the other text info of the other. but I think there might be copyright/trademark/legal issues with using: Jedi, Padawan and images of lightsabers.

Although, master and apprentice might be free reign. Not sure though.

I'd becareful when using starwars themed stuff and names for business. Looks good though.

I don't want to rain on the parade but I would hope George Lucas doesn't see this. Using the titles of Padawan and Jedi I am sure are trademarked. I know that sounds crazy and he probobly never will but there would be at least a cease and desist order if he became aware of it. All in all I like the work, nice job.

well i posted this at kind of a bad time yesterday so i'm going to give it a bump. i think i'll rephrase the jedi/padawan thing, but the pics of the lightsabers are tattoos that the artist has done any thoughts on the infringment this might have. and back to the original post , are the photoshop filters too much on the face of the card?

I love tattoos, but I am not sure I get the whole Star Wars thing. (I do think you carried out the design very well for what elements that you needed to use) Who knows it could be a gender thing, I didn't even know what a padawan is. I am not sure if I would look at the card and know it was a tattooist's card without really readinag it.

well i'm not a starwars geek either & i had to google padawan for spelling
as for knowing he is a tattoo artist i don't really think that will be an issue because he will be passing them out at his shop & tattoo shows.

I think you acheived your clients goals very well. To me the image of him is quite funny, but I know how serious the sci-fi world takes things sometimes. I get what he's saying, and the angle he's working, but unless he's ONLY targeting starwars tats, he may want to pick another general card or advertisement. Wait, on second thought, branding yourself as the star wars tatoo artist is memorable and could be great if you can make it work.

Back to your design. I think the name and curve of the shop is a little um soft compared to the hard colors and angles in the rest of the card. On the back it seems cluttered. I'd try to look at it as horizontal as opposed to verticle. Maybe ask to use, or show an example of 1 lightsaber, with info and appointment times under it. I'd try to make the arguement that squeezing both lightsabers into such a small space dosen't do them justice, which it dosent, they look to be well detailed. Maybe try a close up screened back version of one with the info over it.

Good Luck, and (oh yes, he's gonna say it), may the force be with you. :)

well he will mostly be passing these out at a tattoo show where he is entering the tattoos of the lightsabers (they are on someones ribcage on going up one side & the other going down the other they go from armpit to hip on each side)

i wish i could do something about that but that is the shop logo i colored it to match the other the best i could but i agree
