Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : My first Illustrator creation!
I'm used to Photoshop but didn't realize how cool Illustrator was until I decided to pursue the Graphic Design field. I've only been using Illustrator for about a week in my spare time and this is the first thing that I've created worth sharing :P

All comments, critiques, tips and advise are ALL welcomed and appreciated! thanks!
edit: oh, and this wasn't for any payed project, just an exercise in Illustrator for my own personal use :) and I can't take all credit for it, I followed a nice tutorial I found at ndesign-studio.com

Blend tool, then you masked a few objects (pedals)
I used that in class last term to create fake currency bills.
Reminds me of the spiralgraph in a way. wait till you use the mesh tool. you'll dig it over the blend tool. It is harder to use.
Looks cool

Tutorials are great to learn from. Hey, those petals kind of look like bunny ears. How 'bout taking a stab at the design challenge (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18188) with your new found illustrator skills? ;) :D
thanks for the compliments guys (and thanks for the shameless plug for your contest balou :D ) Would anyone know how I could take that same design and change the colors a bit? Like maybe make the flower all white on a blue background?
thanks :)

Shameless maybe, contest, never! Contest is a bad word around here. ;)
Without seeing the illy file, I can usually replace colors by selecting something and choosing Select/Same fill color then replace the selections with your new color.

Very good for a start...
Incidentally, my first illustrator item (it was a baptisim by fire experience) was a logo design (in series) of a lily turning into a monarch butterfly for a product designer. As soon as I can dig up the file will post it... Your design brought back very good memories.
Thanks for sharing.

My very first Illy trial by fire project was digitizing the AT&T logo, believe it or not. The client was AT&T Direct, and it was for their graphic standards, and I ended up creating a font for them, so I had the logos scanned from PMT's, and then retraced over them. It went into their graphic standards and we provided it digitally for all of their various vendors.
Yikes! I'm old! That was in 1989 or so.
