I designed this card for a friend of mine. It is the first design I have ever had printed. My friend was very happy with it and I am looking for some professional opinions on my design.
Stylish Combinations (http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/5867/scfinalpz3.jpg)
The card is designed to represent the name 'Stylish Combinations' The three diamonds fading out is one combination. The calig. style font at the top left, right, and bottom left is another combination, Also the blue over yellow. These elements then combine with the factual text and phone number. The card is what I call 'Slimline', much shorter in height than a normal buisness card. It was printed with a matte gloss, smooth feel.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Hi Publik. You'll have better luck not posting a pdf download like that. Here's a link to a better alternative.

Thanks for the tip balou, the link is now to a jpg at imageshack. However, it blew up when I saved it from Illustrator, why did that happen??

What resolution did you save it as when you exported it?

Image resolution has been adjusted to 72dpi
Firstly, glad your friend likes it and is happy with the end product. Satisfying the client is one part of the equation. That being said, I am not really feeling the type...the script, while intented to connote stylish, seems a little too fussy for the nature of the business, IMO. As for colors...the yellow is a bit jarring, at least onscreen.
I don't mean to be overly critical, however. If this was being presented as a comp, there are things you could try and other avenues you could explore, but this is finished, and the client satisfied, so good on you.

Hmm, not so much for me, I'm afraid.
For one thing, the script font on the business name. Uh, no. That font doesn't convey stylish to me, it just conveys fancy, even baroque, or wedding, but certainly not stylish (by which I'm guessing you are meaning tasteful) which is not what I think you want.
The colors? Um, again, sorry, no. I don't see the yellow as particularly stylish either, maybe that's just my personal taste, but it seems somewhat, um, garish. Which is the opposite of stylish, IMO.
I guess the diamonds are meant to convey combinations? They don't really combine, though, in my eye, they're separate from each other, and don't say combination to me at all, as much as different color options, which don't necessarily combine at all.
Sorry, I hope I'm not being too harsh.

Very funny har, har, har...
The biggest turn off for me is the font used; like others have said it doesn't represent "stylish" to me and looks very misplaced IMO. The yellow isn't so bad, I could see how it would work on a business card printed on smooth matte paper, it make the card stand out.
A quick fix I would do is to combine the name and number. Have the name then the number underneath, whether it be in the top left corner where the name is or in the bottom right where the number is, either place doesn't matter just combine them. The way the card flows, I look at the logo first, then start reading the bullet list and then see the number. I had to read the card a few times over before I even noticed the name on the top left and it took a few seconds to make the connection that the number went with the name.

The biggest turn off for me is the font used;
for me it's probably hairy legs. Never liked that really - I'd make a terrible hippy
Sorry, what were you all talking about?
