OK, all you "on-top-of-it" designers. You know who you are.
Buy it as soon as it comes out. The sooner you buy it, the sooner you get all the bugs worked out, the sooner I can get it into my prepress department.
I refuse to buy any new software until it's at least ver .0.b or c or .0.1.L. Let the designers do the ground work!

And then we'll find that Adobe is pulling their "No back-saving" crap. We'll have to wait and see!

I heard early next year. Rick, we are an adobe partner and get the upgrades for "free". I'll let you know how cool/crappy it is then. :)

Ya, Jalan, we are too. "Free" is only relative to how much it cost to get into APP. Meet ya halfway, say Wenatchee, no Moses Lake. Ya, Moses Lake, you won't be offended by the smell, kinda the same as Tacoma !:D

Same here. Spring 07 is what I heard.

I forget what the finalized software packages will be, I had it written down, and like everything I write down so I don't forget later, I wind up losing it. I think the lower end will have GoLive and the higher end will have Dreamweaver. Not that it should make a difference for you web folk. ;)

I was talking to a guy who was in town for a Flash conference a few weeks back and he said that the newest version of flash is going to have more of a illustrator feel to it. He also said it might have a different name... I guess we wait...

They should keep the name, but if it has an Illy feel that would be pretty sweet. Hopefully they can beef up the drawing controls in the program a bit.

I heard Spring of 2007 as well. I'll start saving my pennies now.

any ideas what'll be different? I just got CS2... maybe I need to play with it more but Idont see much new useful features. Am I missing some cool new crap? I do love the live trace though...

It's probably more anticipated by Intel Mac users than others as it's the first version of CS that will support Intel Macs natively.

Photoshop CS2 added a few new tricks, but I feel that Illustrator (adding Livepaint/trace) was the only real "must-have" upgrade in the CS2 package.

Would Intel Mac support warrant a whole version upgrade? I guess CS2.5 isn't clean and simple enough for Adobe. Maybe they do have some great new stuff up their sleeve after all (like replacing GoLive with Dreamweaver and adding Flash to the CS?)

For Intel Mac users, of course it'd warrant an upgrade (which is why I'm glad I skipped out on CS2). Rosetta support for PowerPC versions work okay for simple things, but hardly ideal for high-res, RAM sucking work.

Adobe needs to slow down with all the new versions. It's getting a little out of hand! I wounder if they will pull the same stunt they did with CS2 and make all the printer buy the new version just so they can open our files. We upgraded last year to CS2 and all of the printers in town had to get it just to open our work. There is nothing like 3-4 of printer down time. But what can you do if you can save down you can save down.

Most printing companies in my area are"Adobe Service Network" members and automatically get updated software (usually a week or two early), for an annual fee.

Yes, our shop is ASN, so we get the updates no problem. I have to admit I prefer the updates more frequent. Quark drove me nuts taking forever for their updates. My guess is since it's been a relatively long wait on CS2 to CS3 that there will be feature differences/enhancements.

It's right about sixteen/eighteen months between upgrades. I think CS1 debuted sometime between the second half of 2003 and first half of 2004, then the CS2 upgrade came around May 2005.

Is it a hefty fee? Worth it?
