I'm jones'in for some new tunes. What have you guys been listening to lately? I've got some Big Sugar old stuff and The Who right now - as well as some 'pop' stuff I won't admit to listening to. ;)
So, whatcha got? :p

My old iPod (20Gb 4G) broke, so I brought it in to be fixed... and the couldn't do it. So oh joy they just gave me a new one... a new 30 Gb Video! :D
I need new music too now.
Have you tried Pandora (www.pandora.com (http://www.pandora.com))? It's a pretty good way to check out new bands. It plays songs from artists based on what you like (what you put it).
I just got:
Popsicle by Diamond Nights
Black Holes and Revalations by Muse
The Madcap Laughs by Syd Barrett

I'll probably pick up a new iPod when it comes out (given that I can get my hands on one). Pandora is good, some people have pointed me to Last.fm (that's the address, www.last.fm) and said that's better. I have yet to be convinced. It shows me all the "popular" stuff that other people who listen to your music listen to, while Pandora tends to take into account the qualities of the songs you like and finds other songs with similar characteristics.
In my current iPod, though? The flashing folder of death; in Windows known as the Blue Screen.

my latest ipod rips.
Panic! at the Disco (A Fever You Can't Sweat Out)
Less than Jake (in with the out crowd)
The Little Willies (self titled)

Did you try whacking it a few times against your desk - I heard that the folder of death usually means a stuck HD, whacking it a few times sometimes unsticks it.
This had worked for many, many other people even though Apple’s website (wisely) doesn’t mention this possible fix. I couldn’t quite bring myself to dropping my $300 iPod to the hard tile floor on the off chance that it would spin or wobble on the way down so I did the next best thing: I held it and slammed it onto a pad of paper on my desk (providing some cushion so I didn’t crack the case), charging port down.
And like mana falling from heaven, the tunes started playing.
While I thanked the Jobs Gods for resurrecting my iPod I couldn’t help but wonder WHY such a ridiculous fix worked. I did a little more poking around it and turns out that the hard drive cable inside a lot of iPods manages to work itself loose to the point where the connection is no longer valid. So the iPod is looking for the hard drive, the cable isn’t completely connected and your iPod get sad.

Seriously, I've bashed it against my desk a few times to see if it would jar anything loose (wow, that could have been in the previous paragraph as well). Last time I checked it won't even start anymore, and plugging in the charger does nothing. Oh well, it pissed me off pretty fierce at first, but I haven't been missing it too much. When I get a new one, or if I can get a better alternative (which will not be the new MS one, by the way), I'm also going to get some awesome head phones for it, like those Shure In-Ear buds. Somebody posted about getting them a while ago, never did hear anything back though.
EDIT: Saw your blog post. I may have to keep at it, maybe it'll still work or kick in.

Battery's toast.
That's what happened to my first one. They said the battery lost it's charge. Probably could get new battery for it and it might work. (emphasis on might)

It's an older one, one of the ones with the four buttons over the scroll wheel. I'd rather not even bother, I've seen the new video ones and they are sweet.
I wish iPods had some EQ control, instead of just a bunch of presets.

Did you hear about that new Nano attachment for Nike shoes, where it doubles as a pedometer type deal? Pretty snazzy. It's Nano only though, I think.

Yeah I saw those.
Apparently something goes in your shoes and it transmits data like heart rate, distance, etc right to your iPod.
The possibility for accessories for the iPod is huge.

Paul Van Dyke
Ministry
Crystal Method

i've been using itunes' "Just for You" section for finding new music... works the same as pandora, just based upon everything you buy, and the things you say you don't like versus things you already own.

I don't even own an ipod or any digital music player. I can't stand listening to music with head phones on, I never could it gives me a headache. I bought my wife one for Christmas though and she loves it, and loaded it mostly with 80's hair bands. Stuff like BonJovi, Poison, Cindarella and Warrant.

I have a 40 gb piece of crap ipod as well. It barely works. Going thru customs a few times while travelling to the US has screwed it up going thru those magnetic do-hickeys. Light no longer works, and the whole ipod works when it "feels" like it.
At the time I paid $750 for the thing, what a waste of money. $750 worth of frustration.
Anywhooooo...
On my ipod...
Jack Johnson
Limp Bisquit (yeah I still listen to them)
Ben Harper
Bob Marley
Manu Chao (if you like Bob you'll love this guy)
Dallas Green
Radiohead
Harry Connick Jr.
Johnny Cash
Jamirquai
Kate Bush
Leonard Cohen
Matthew Good
Mazzy Star
The Hip
Pearl Jam
Pink Floyd
STP
Soundgarden
The Police
Tool
Just to name a few.
