As I am about to close on my 1st home this Thursday there is an endless list of things I need and/or would like to have which obviously adds up to quite a bit of cash. This was the weekend of deals

On Friday Night I went to Target and I found a set of 4 Patio Chairs (oversized cast iron ones with big cushions) for $99 (normally $400)

On Saturday I went to a bunch of garage sales and just when I thought that all people sold was utter shite I decided to do one more... Well they had a gas grill there and the lady said if I bought the grill tools (spatula, tongs, poker) for $3 i could have the grill... well after a trip to home depot and $30 later for some new briquets and hose I have a fully functional gas grill

Yesterday I went to HOM furniture in search of a patio table. Stuff there seemed to be kind of expensive and that's when I saw a black cast iron table in the back for $120.

So after $250 my patio is set... now if only every room will be that cheap ;o)

Awesome deals! I hope I find some like that when I move to boston. What sucks the most is that I don't know if I'll be sharing a place (thus needing less Furniture) or renting my own (thus needing everything). This bites... :(

I dont know if they have it out by you but we get a Pennysaver, and people put a bunch of stuff up for sale in there and list their garage sales. My family has had a lot of luck with it in the past.

Holy Shite, your coming to Beantown? Let me know when your here we could get another GDF meetup. I may be able to recommend some places to shop, there are a couple bargain stores...then there is also craigslist which is pretty big site for boston

Yeap, I'll be there in Sept I lived there from 01-03 while going to Northeastern. I took some time off so Im going back to finish up (I got my associates on my time off so im not too bad off). So luckily I know most of the better places to go, still trying to find a place to live at this point though. I've got some calls to make later in the afternoon, hopefully I can see some places this weekend. After that all I need to worry about is where my furniture is coming from.

yeah, since I decided a while ago that I want to go it alone before I invite someone to be a roomate (hopefully a wife someday ;) ), but that means that I need everything. The most overwhelming thing is having to outfit a complete kitchen

Oh man, yea I know what you mean. Unless you have a good idea of what a kitchen should have ( I used to be a chef at TGI Friday's and Outback ) you'll probably be back and forth each time you remember you need this or that. It also depends on how involved you get in the kitchen, Ramen anyone?

I dont know if its out by you but look for Chef Central, thats a great place to get everything you need all at once and for a decent price. The staff is also friendly and should be able to help you out.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I've been trying to make the most comprehensive list possible but I know I'll be back and forth a bunch.

Good luck with your move

Buying a house is so stressful. We're closing on our first home on Wednesday. Every time we think we're done spending money, something else comes up. I hope we find some deals as good as yours.
