Help!

I have created illustrations for a book in AI CS (MACOSX) with required 2 pantones for commercial print overseas.

The person doing the layout and inserting of my illustrations is using an older version of Quark (2or4 i think), and also has Photoshop 4 on a PC platform.

I would like to send the files to them in a way that does not permit them to have access to my original vector images, while retaining the two pantone colors (one of which is metallic).

Can anyone recommend a good way to do this? I've tried copying and pasting into a PSD, however I loose my PMS colors and remaking them in PS looks not so good. Is there a better way with PS or PDF? I have to send off the final images over the weekend.

Thanks You!! /emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Hi , im no expert on prepress but i had an experience before on a logo that had 2 pms colors, theres no need to recreate the colors , you can use any color but you had to tell the printing company which color would represent the actual pms .

Problem here is that unless you properly setup spot channels in Photoshop, it will require more time to properly print your job in 2 color spot. They will have to spend time making the seperations from CMYK. Normally its not hard but some places can charge you for it. Vector artwork would be better to send but not if you have copyright concerns. Vector is easier to output into a spot color job though. Its generally easier to trap and register.

Also, PDF saves vector information so you arent protecting yourself there.
