Hubby brought home a new friend tonight. We haven't decided on a name yet so thought it would be fun to get your ideas. Our new boy is 8 weeks old and is a purebred German Shepherd. Here's his picture. Got any name ideas?

Balou, so cute! I think he should be called Lucky because he's lucky you're his mom. :)

Lovin' on Max right now Rick.
Balou, I'm thinking Albert (as in Einstein) (Al for short) for the puppy. He looks very thoughtful and wise. :)
And to agree with others here, he is the most awesome cutieness I've seen in a long time, kind of like a big bundle of love and smartness all rolled up in one cutie package. Yay!

GSs are really smart and good guard dogs if properly trained.
How about "Bandit" :D .
That was the name of another great German Shepherd, god rest his soul.

I think you should name him Gonzo. He is so darn cute. Reminds me of my shepard when he was a wee lad. ;)

The name I think would work well with him is Kodi.
Here is why Kodi came to mind:
I had a german shepard, when I was younger.. We named her Charro. Because she wipped her tail just like the lady Charro. She was 3/4 german shepard - 1/4 alaska husky (more german shepard traits). Well she got nocked up by a purebreed german shepard, when she had the puppies, we kept one.. he was abnormaly large for a puppy.. we watched him grow, havent given him a name yet.. at about 3 months old he was just enormous, so we called him Kodi (Short for kodiak bear, because he was starting to look like a big bear cub), at 6 months old he was able to pull a radio flyer wagon with 3 teenagers with almost no effort.
or how about Bacu (sounds like Bah-koo)?
Or "Stay"?
"Come stay!, come Stay!" you will confuse the hell out of the dog.

Ubu. Then you can tell him "Sit Ubu, sit. Good dog".

Balou, love the Shephard. I have a 4 year old Czech-Line Female German Shephard named Kira. She's big for a female... she's 96 lbs. And no, she's not fat. My friend trains dogs for a living so she is fully trained on and off leash, verbal and non-verbal commands. We have started to train her for sent detection, she LOVES it! She's a big dog but she thinks that she's tiny... she tries to go through our legs! LOL! Her tail has been known to clear off end tables. I keep meaning to find a good pic of her and put it in the pet thread. I can't find one that does her justice. :)
As far as names... how about King?

How about Logan? Always liked that name. Or, a friend of mine names all of her animals by her favorite candy. Reeses, Hershey etc. Kinda fun. Let us know what you decide!
