As suggested by urstwile.

a friend of mine at work a couple of years back went to France, surreptitiously "borrowed" a little Felix the Cat toy I had on my desk (I have a lot of toys on my desk so I didn't notice right off the bat), and photographed Felix in a bunch of different settings...in France. It was great. He e-mailed me the pictures while he was on his trip, and it was really fun.

So...you take your (fun desk toy, favorite hat, unique stapler, etc., etc.) and travel around with it and pose it in different situations wherever you're at.

No deadline on this one... happy shooting!

Okay, I'm trying this. People are looking at me like I'm a big idiot - my kids included! But it's fun! Maybe I can post some pics later today. I lost my nerve in Sam's Club this morning, maybe I'll do better when I go to World Market this afternoon!! My objects sort of big - 8" circle!!

Alright, I'm retiring my object back to the shelf cause I'm too scared it's gonna break. But here it is. A little background on my object first. My husbands great aunt (actually pronounced aint) Lois saw this picture in a magazine one day of these Princess Diana plates that were for sale from the Franklin Mint. She loved them and wanted each of her sisters to have one but she couldn't afford to buy them one. There are a total of 8 sisters, but 1 had died. So, she went and bought 5 more of the magazines and carefully cut out the picture of the Diana plate. She then somehow affixed each picture to an existing plate that she owned. I laughed so hard the first time I saw it. It is amazingly tacky. It's actually the tackiest thing that I own. I actually own two of them right now. When one of the sisters dies, I get her Diana plate. I attended Aint Edie's funeral on Friday. I called my mother in law on Sunday to see if she could swing getting Aint Edie's plate for me. A plan is in the works. The one in the photo belonged to Aint Dee. I chose it because she smoked so much that it's a little yellowed, offering a little more photographic intrigue!

We went to Target today! I bought the black version of the white coffee maker.
http://thecreativeforum.com/photopost/data/532/1163diana4.jpg

You can hardly see Diana in the freezer.
http://thecreativeforum.com/photopost/data/532/1163diana3.jpg

So, I opened the door and took another shot.

Then we took this shot in the mirror. I love mirror shots! Diana was cooperative throughout.
http://thecreativeforum.com/photopost/data/532/1163diana1.jpg

Hopefully, when all is said and done I will own all 6 Diana plates. They are far more valuable to me than the ones from Franklin Mint.

I know, Virgo, I wish I had one too. Especially since this one was my suggestion. I don't know if recycled images taken by someone else are qualified for this one. It was my toy, but it went on a trip to France, unbeknownst to me. Maybe I'll toss one up here anyway, just for the fun of it.

Kat, come on, I know you can do it!

Take a plate, or a salt shaker, or a little weeble thing from your desk, even a pencil, or something with your name on it. Maybe print out a screenshot of one of your cool welcome graphics and take it with you and photograph it.

Believe me, if I had a digital camera, I'd so be on this!

take a generic glass salt shaker with a round metal top, (don't have one? dollar store) Fill it with salt. Draw eyes and possibly a moustache on it with a sharpie.

Pipe cleaner arms? sure
little White gloves? why not
maybe a bowtie? go nuts
an evening jacket? too far ya freak

Take Mr.Salty out on the town.

Me too Virgo. I had a reeeallly bad tequila experience in July and haven't had a drink since! I may have a gin on saturday before we play zydeco fest, not sure yet!

Virgo Nightingale
08-29-2006, 08:45 PM
Margaritas I generally have no problem with. The result I have with the shot depends on when I do them - If I'm too sober they'll make me puke and ruin the rest of my night, too drunk I'll still puke but it will land on/in things I didn't intend for it to hit. If I'm somewhere in between sober and drunk, I can keep a shot or two down, but my stomach will probably be mad at me anyway.
