...of course that view is visible only after the first pitcher of Margaritas...

Ever since a one-time coworker of mine asked to see some of my personal work and I had to tell him, 'I didn't have any personal work, for 30 years I only did art for hire', I've made it an exercise to produce 'Fine Art' on a regular basis for sanity & creativity's sake. (man! that's a long sentence...)

Point is, whatshername wanted a new painting for over the bed in our newly redecorated master bedroom - I've had a lot of spare time lately and remodeling is my hobby she tells me... Anyway, Here's the link to my latest 'therapy piece' - http://www.zzpop.com/artfolio/GoldenPalm.html

It's titled 'Dreams of the Golden Palm'

I'd like to thank my mother for pushing and my father for... well, never mind. Just pour another Margarita...

Yeah thanks D-F. I am a member of the Jetsons school of Art. Stop by sometime for Margaritas and watch the sunset... And bring that cute little #23 with you when you do. Do you know if she's 18 yet?

Thanks be to the paintings. If it weren't for them, who knows what kind of insanitaroo would be loosed onto the GDF?
Purrrrty painting. Love the colors. I'd hang it over my bed, too! :) Is that golden palm about to jump? Does he dream of being free from all the red palms that torment him for being different? Is he sleepwalking?

CARBS ARE YUMMY.

I knew a stevedore named Dali, but she was shy and wouldn't even wipe the sweat from between her pecks...

Salvador Dali may have painted levitation,

but the Dali Lama does it in the air...

Hey Big Perm - you never said what part of the Amazon that river of yours tributized.

Well, so, really... what's the story behind the painting?

Like it says at the top of the thread - I'm an artist who has created for others for so long, I had forgotten to do work for myself. So, every so often I spit one out.

Matter of fact, I just finished stretching that particular pic, which is on canvas. I'm sitting here at the ol' box looking across the room at it. tomorrow, I'll finish framing it and hang it in the space above the massive slay bed in the master bed room between the built-in shelves I constructed.

Like I've mentioned in some other post somewhere - ol' whatshername tells me my hobby is remodeling our garden home since I was laid off from two jobs shortly after 9/11. Since then I've redone the entire house and grounds, sent out about 200 resumes and done about an equal number of creative works for myself...

Right now I'm working on a Pro-bono anime for a dot org...

As for the painting content - whatshername lives for the water and the coast. She was born there and she's one on those people who goes around all the time complaining that she never gets to do what she wants. Though she chooses to do... well, you know. So, when she suggested I do a pic of 'the islands', this is the one I did.

I've been doing a series of water related works for the last year. They're at the same link as this pic...

thanks for asking Ylaenna,

Oh, I see... a work of slavery. ;) I thought it had some deep psychobabblous meaning for you or was something you saw in a dream. Do you work with different media? I like 'Silver Sea' and think it would look awesome painted or etched on actual metal. If it isn't already.

Yeah, Silver Sea would be cool 'carved' into stainless steel using an angle grinder...

Wow, that's be a challenge, though. Too, much work, though. There must be some commercial production shop that could use photo-mechanical means to make that thing. 'Course large format printing could produce something that looked just like it for a fraction of the metal fabrication cost...

Too technical?
