If someone can tell me what this font is, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that is real handwriting, not a font. The two "e"s are different.

yeah looks a lot like a marker to me... I understand some fonts are made to look like a marker, but this looks real.

A friend of mine had business cards with this font on it, and the font was on the program they were using.

Are you sure that the biz cards they were printing with didn't have this thrown in as an image from a scanned hand-drawn image? Looks handwritten to me too.
I concur... That's gotta be written. Are you sure this isn't a trick question? ;)
Well, I've never heard of a font that had different versions of the same letter.
The first e is in "CycleWerkz Italic MT", and the second is in "CycleWerkz Semi-Italic MT".

no doubt its hand written. you can see the marker bleed thru where it overlapped and at the edges.

Dang Ned, where'd you find that? Or have you dealt with this font in the past?

aren't there fonts where some of the letters have slight variations, depending on the character that is preceeding or following it? Like with connectors and stuff... maybe this is something like that

Like a ligature Nubbin'? Ligature is the name you're looking for. I think Ned is having some fun or he really knows that font.

I think Ned might be having a funny at our expense. I agree that it looks like handwriting.
I'm wondering why the original poster doesn't just ask his friend how it was done?

Many of the OpenType fonts have alternate characters. But usually the difference is more dramatic than in his example.

Oh c'mon Urstwile! You know that I would never have a laugh at anybody's expense! I know how sensitive you designer-types are. ;)

I know I have been doing font related things too long when I can drive down the road and see business sign ......... or read a magazine ........ and go.......... Intrepid! ...... or Metro!!
:D
Not me. I'm a font minimalist, to tell the truth. I keep as few fonts as possible in my repetoire, and when I need special type styles (ie, for logos, etc.), I'm apt to draw them all from scratch.
Of course, even I was able to find that CycleWerks font, unlike SOME people... :D

Aren't you a fancy pants? :D
Actually, I agree though, I do keep a fairly few amount of fonts active in Suitcase for regular use, although I'd like to abolish Myriad MM, and multiple master fonts just in general, there are more problems with those fonts that continue to this day.
I do miss the days when I was expected to hunt through sample books to match samples. Nowadays, with the ability to fairly easily modify fonts in software like Illustrator, and the vast amount of stuff that's out there, it's harder and harder to match samples.
Kat, I do remember in my early days in the industry (pre-Mac) after I started being able to recognize fonts, I'd see movie titles or television titles and go "Whoa Bookman Semi-Bold Italic!" Of course, back in the late 70's/early 80's, that was the default for credits, I think.
