Soo back in early April I placed a classified ad in the Arizona Republic because I had adopted 2 ferrets from a shelter. The ad read "2 ferrets + 6 foot tall cage, FREE to serious inquires only please call - (cell phone # here)" Yeah i know first of all im a frickin idiot for not selling them, but I got them for free and felt guilty making a couple hundred off of it...so yeah free...anyways.
So I ran the ad from wed-sat, ad costs me $20.00, on wednesday morning at 6am, my cellphone starts ringing, i wake up still in a daze and answer it. Its a young kid asking me if I still have the ferrets, still rubbing my eyes I tell him, well your the first one to call, it is 6am you know. So he asks if he can have them, i drill him briefly on were they will be staying (indoors only) and ask if he has any other animals...anyways the kid seems super excited so I tell him if they can pick the ferrets up by 9pm then they get em. The second I hang up the phone and go to set it down, it rings again, this time someone else asking about the ferrets. I tell them, sorry they have been sold. I put the phone down, literally 30seconds later it rings again....this goes on for weeks.
At this point in time ive resorted to just leaving a message on my cell # and turning it off cuz i cant stand the calls, which is a pain in the arse cuz its my only # so my personal message is now sounding something like this "Thank you for calling Kris (last name) with Pillar Graphic Design, and also Booking for DJ D-Frag, if your calling about the ferrets they have been givin away, please leave a message after the beep" loooooooong ass f'n message, and not very professional when clients are calling you. Anyways it gets alot worse.
So I give the ferret to the kid that nite, I leave for Hawaii shortly after that. Well all was well, got a few random phone calls around 3 weeks out from the ad, kinda expected the retards to be getting the paper around that time anyways, i just hadn't assumed they new how to work a phone. Anyways nothing happened for a while, all of a sudden around 3 weeks ago I start getting more phone calls about the ferrets. At first I was just livid, screaming at these people to stop calling me. Then I got so mad I called the publication I originally ran my ad in, they assured me that they were not running the ad at all in the paper or on the net. So a little further investigation into the phone calls happens. Last nite an angel called me, she wanted ferrets too, I told her to bad and explained my situation to her,so she was nice enough to give me the full name, phone #, dates of running, and page # of my ad in this new publication. I immediately called them at 11pm last nite, hoping they had a 24hr deal going, I got an answering machine, so I leave a message for them to call me back cuz im interested in a ad. They never do, so I call them this morning, conversation goes roughly like this:
"Hello Arizona Recycler"
"Hello, do you have a customer service dept?"
"No sir, is there something I can help you with"
At this point I knew it was going to be bad, I explain to the kid all that has happened, he asks me "Well did you see the ad online?" I reply back, no its not on your website, but its obviously in your paper. His rebutle was "Well it cant be in one and not the other we dont operate that way" im thinking, well you guys have yet to prove ANY operation skills up till now. I assure him that the ad is in his paper, and that I want an explanation. His only explanation was that someone had gone onto there website, created a username, password..etc. Then placed the exact same ad that I did in the Republic months ago on there site. I found that interesting since it wasn't even on there site to begin with, I asked him "Well you have to have a username password to place an ad on your site, I want that persons personal information, like IP address, subnet etc." He puts me on hold for a good 3 minutes, and returns telling me that he cant give me that information because they are having problems withe the people who are doing there website, and cant get any back end info. He then tells me that the ad has been removed from further publications. Well that doesn't do sh!t for me, considering this thing is still being published until the 18th.
So this is my complaint that I put into the BBB this morning after our little chat:
"Company took my personal information from a ad I placed in the "Arizona Republic" back in April, and reran my ad in there current publication without my knowledge or consent. Because of this I have been recieving a very large volume of phone calls to my only phone # I have, which is a cellphone.
Company states that ad was placed from website, when asked about personal information of the person who placed the ad, they could not give me a answer (you need a login/password to access there site). I feel this company does this alot, and I am not the first one to be scammed, they also have no contact information on there site. I would like my cell phone bill covered for this month for the roughly 100+ phone calls I have recieved over the last month and a half. If not I will take legal actions for harrasment."
I am liking my Scorpio persona at this point, I don't take sh!t from anyone, especially companies that are fraudulent, and have no concept of Customer Service. I think the biggest part of companies ripping people off on a daily basis, is because people don't stand up for themselves anymore, they just say ahhhh pancake it. Not me, I figure if out of a 100 people they do this too, only 1 complains....that 1 just happens to be me....I will always stand up to the corporations. http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/violent.gif
