Hi guys, be merciful, I'm a real newbie, a couple of months ago lept from psp to FW and then after getting my head stuck in here last week started messing about with the demos of photoshop and illy.
I've put together a banner I want to use from the following sources.
template (http://www.4templates.com/view/website-templates/4/AX0239BL) Photo (http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-1545261.html)
Incorportated design (http://www.healthywebsites.co.uk/clients/nlhc/design12.php)
I'm not sure if I imagined it or not (thought I read it in a help file or something) but is there a way to take the background of the photo (http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-1545261.html) and use it in ther rest of the banner (http://www.healthywebsites.co.uk/clients/nlhc/design12.php)?
Thanks your help appreciated,
ww

You want part of that image to show through the banner? I think you'd need to make all the white portion of the image transparent, if it's not already. Then just set the image as the background of the element that header image is in.

JPync, I dont follow you? what I've got is the mortor and pessle resized to about 150px and need the effect of the background of the mortor and pessle to sretch across the red part of the banner. Dont know how to?
Imagine I would have to do some kind of flood fill unless there is some kind of cleverer way?
Thanks,

If i'd been able to download the original psd of the mortor and prestle I could have then made the mortor and prestle invisible and messed about with the original but I dont have that....
This is just a side note.
Its illegal to use photographs and art from stock sites without paying for it.
Its kinda like… stealing.
Yes tZ is right about that... maybe u do a picture urself or go and search more for FREE stock photos and get a high res version of an image...
So my opinion is that when u get the right image u get the image and the banner in fron of u .... and start staring at them to find a balaced color and set the banner to that color. Then with photoshop u work on the image and make the sides of the image fade into that color so when u put the image on the banner will lok integrated in the banner :D

hey guys, I'm an honest citizan of the web, I paid my buck for the photo (well my 10 bucks for the sign up credits) and it was worth it, both myself and the client think its a great photo. (please note the lack of the copyright watermark on the photo I've integrated in to the banner (http://www.healthywebsites.co.uk/clients/nlhc/design12.php))
So like you say its going to be a case of staring and the photo/banner and playing with the dropper and the flood fill.
Anyone give a more detailed step by step guide on how to do this little process as this is all a bit of trial and error to me at the moment.
thanks,
