Here are some promo shots for a band who's cover I just finished. These will run primarily in newspapers schedules and articles for magazines. I've made them all grayscale to accomodate newspapers, but I have color files should they need color.

I'll post the rest later. My husband just called. I was supposed to pick them up at 2 pm an hour and a half away, but they just got there early! oops.

i like these...i like how they are taken in a unique location instead of the usual in front of a wall or something...that giant, very unique tree is a very cool location for it i like them a lot

That tree has to be one of a kind on this earth. It should've been used in "Lord of the Rings"

I'm not sure which one they should use as their primary promo shot. I am open to suggestions. I like the one of them looking down into the camera, but I'm not sure if its the best choice.

I like the two where you are looking up at them.
What's the band name?

The band name is "racines", which is french for "roots."

Thanks for the feedback!

a washboard, 2 fiddles, an acoustic guitar and a triangle... I'm guessing folk, bluegrass, or old time style?

The "washboard" is actually an accordion. He's holding it by the handle and the bellows are stretched out! The triangle player actually plays the drums for the most part. They play old time cajun music. The band is named racines to indicate that they are going back to their cajun roots. The tree is awesome! It's on the banks of the bayou teche. I went under it and looked up and took a shot, but it didn't come out very good. I don't think the flash was strong enough.

I agree, I like the ones when your POV is below them looking up. I like the eighth from last except the one dudes knee is covering the other dudes face.

Not to knock the picture which are good and all but it seems a little boring to me. Being in band myself i know trhe pains of taking photos like this. I band photos need to be though out more so than anything else as they represent the band without people knowing who they are. I would seriously think about getting some more outside creatives working on ideas and stuff. I think maybe trees are the folk bands brick walls. I mean if they were playing a bar or cafe they I am hoping they are more entertaining then the photos. check out www.paperbrigade.com for some great fotos and stuff.

I agree under regular circumstances, but the tree really fits here in my opinion. The reason I think the tree fits is because the name of the band is racines, which means roots in french, and the tree is mostly roots. The setting was one the band felt very strongly about and in this case, I think they were dead on. These photos match the ones that are on their cd cover. Thanks for your opinion, though!

I like the choice of locations but it doesn't have anything that makes it stand out from other similiar picks. it looks plain. no so much the angles and the trees but the band. seems like a bunch of people and not a band. Maybe its the lack of connection between the band memebers that seems to get me.

The large vertical pic with the blackspace on the bottom right is my favorite but i with all the people werent starring at the camara. but that would make a dam good begginning for a flyer.

I have to admit that the tree is impressive. I would love to see it in person.
