Nice to see they've fixed a few things that even the second beta didn't have.

Yay - min / max height / width - if that was the only thing they added I would have been happy.

Dare I say it - IE7 is looking like a pretty good browser, but for the love of god, when will it come out of beta

question is, when will IE users actually update their software. Let's start the bidding at 2010.

2010 Over or under? I'll take the under.

Microsoft is pushing it in an update - any users that downloads a patch / update (I know not everyone does but the majority do) will have IE7 installed.

Of course it doesn't mean that we can kill off IE6 (I've started serving no style to IE5 now unless client server stats prove I shouldn't), and a lot of companies won't push IE7 out for a wihle, but at least we can be sure how a significant adoption once it's released

windows automatically updates for me, but I don't think people with older systems have this - is that correct?

It's cool that they're doing updates like this though, leaving it up to the user is/was ridiculunk.

DEpends on what you mean by older systems. Win 2000 won't run IE7 anyway, so it's not an issue. One ofhte reasons why we'll have to support IE6 for the forseeable future.

I have decided that in a couple of years I'll have added IE6 to the limited features set in my browser list whenever I can

that will rule. I will be ever so much more profitable and happy when that damn thing dies.

tell me about it - I can't wait for it to drop of the list all together. That'll be a while though!!!!

Got in an argument with a coworker earlier today about this subject. I think IE7 adoption will be a good amount and higher than the 50% adoption that IE6 had one year after it's release, but not everyone will be updating their IE clients for a variety of reasons. For one, how many times have you declined the nag message to update your random piece of software just because you didn't feel like it?

It's going to be the same deal with IE7 and Vista as it was with IE6 and Windows XP. Adoption to the point where IE6 is no longer relevent will only occur once Vista is the majority OS. As users upgrade and buy new computers, etc.

I was reading that blog entry last night and it actually got me excited for IE7. I will make sure that all my clients update.

It's a really good browser to be honest. I downloaded the beta 3 the other day. I'm currently building the site of a design agency and they're all on vista and ie7 beta's. Bit odd, but their big thing is using XAML and the windows foundation.

Anyhoo - after playing about with it I really like it. It still won't be my main browser, but I'll curse IE less and less. which is nice
