Is there anything simple I can do for this website? Or is there anything major that would significantly improve my website?
huckfinncreative.com (www.huckfinncreative.com)
You guys are the pros. Thanks!

Well, right before the game, I decided I could like France. My best friend had chosen from his array of Zidane jerseys and all was right with the world. Then Zizou came out of nowhere and single-handedly wrecked France's chances. It was really weird.

to be brutally honest it isn't very good.
The coding is appalling, and the UI is out of alignment - there's seems to be no grid adherence at all. The eye darts around the page with no place for it to rest on. The ads stand out more than the content.

Guys: I'm more of a nerd than you originally thought. That's not my website. Here it is:

I don't mean to waste your time, guys. Sorry about that.

am I missing something? all I see is a splash page. And again the eye dances over the page with out resting on anything. The background grey is also a bit dull.

Please tell me you are kidding. www.huckfinncreative.com is nothing but a static page where you can email 2 guys. It's no website and yes it's wasting time. Did you forget some code or something?

Well, it's supposed to be a sweet record album look. It's just a splash page.
I see what you mean about the eye-dance thing. Maybe I'll just go a little more conventional on the layout instead of trying to be all crafty.

and even the one page is poorly made and coded. Images turned off? then you get nothing at all. Google's going to love that. Coding wise - no doctype for starters...

Sorry guys. I'm thinking a splash page is a website. Maybe this is a question for the design section of the forum - the the web design section.
you seem not know what navigation is.
I like the generally feel but, it doesn't function and its without purpose.
Its an image…

Chris: I hadn't thought of that. That gives me someplace to start.
Thanks for taking a look, guys. Sorry if you feel I've wasted your time, but you have actually helped me out.

huckfinn,
No, a splash page is just that - a splash page. A website has a UI, functionality and some design and thought behind it. Splash pages are something of an old hat. I don't recommend them. You can post it up there, but don't have people critique it. Once you get your 'functional' website up and running THEN we can critique it.

It's not feeling very bluegrassy to me. Bluegrass is a more traditional, rootsy, americana type of music - the site doesn't convey that at all. I guess when dealing with this sort of client, I see so many design opportunities just jumping out at me that are much more fitting with the theme than what you have going. Why not go for era-specific color schemes, era-specific fonts, era-specific artwork? I think that would make it look a lot better and give it a cohesive design that people identify bluegrass with and that assures people that they are in for a true bluegrass experience. Good Luck!!

If it was a waste of time, you wouldn't have been helped out! It's a start, but you need to elaborate on it more, and samples of work is practically a must. And ditch the full image thing, Google will all but completely ignore you.

Yeah, I got that after I wrote all that. Oh well, what everyone above said in regards to your site. For a minute there, I had lost all respect for you as a designer and was really wanting to say "Man, you suck reeeaaaal bad!" but was trying to put it gently!
