Dot Mac....not that I have any interest in using it for website hosting, I'm going to possibly talking with a client soon that might already have one of these accounts. So I'm contemplating the "what-ifs" as they arise and be educated in case they might bring up using that as I don't know very much about it other than Apple advertising that it's seamless with iWeb.
I highly doubt one could do anything advance like databases or whatnot on it. But what can it support? Just straight HTML? What about writing PHP codes for includes (for headers/footers/etc)? Does it support Flash at all?

I do know that it's not intended for commercial use. I think they have a maximum amount of hits that they'll allow for .Mac sites.
I have a .Mac account, but haven't used it for much besides filesharing and the occasional website testing.
Of the websites I've tested on my .Mac account, it does support Flash, but it's slow to load.

you can publish just about anything to .Mac though like Urst said it's not intended for commericial use. Their servers can seem slow because of the large number of people posting their plug and play web apps on to it. I'm in the beginning stages of working with a photographer friend of mine to go from an iWeb website to a real website.
Though .mac does have some quality features for the untrained user. You can create password protected sites, beautiful looking slideshows, blogs, photo galleries and more. The only bad thing is that it creates a lot of bad commercial websites when people don't want to pay to have a quality website done for them.
I've used .mac since they gave it to me for free when I worked at apple, now I don't know if I could go without it.
