I had to bomb my living room today due to overzealous fire ants. Consequently, Sadie and I had to bail for 3 hours. Our intention was to go to the park and feed the ducks. The ducks weren't hungry, so we got the pleasure of feeding the nutria rats. Nutria rats send chills up my spine. I hate them. They are not native to Louisiana. The people who started Tabasco company had an exotic zoo many years ago. When hurricane camille blew through Louisiana, their exotic animals got loose, thus introducing the nutria rat to us. They have proliferated in abundance and screw up the ecosystem in the marshlands and stuff, but their isn't really anything we can do about it. The governor commissioned chefs to come up with nutria recipes, but most people just gag at the thought. Anyway, they are in the park we go to. They're harmless there. Here's some pics!

Then we walked over to the University of Southwestern Louisiana to visit the swamp there. It's the only university in the world with a swamp, as well as alligators. We were lucky to find and feed a baby alligator!!

Here's one. He's hiding from me!! They are truly disguisting creatures. I showed the one with the bread so you could get an idea of how big they are. These are about 4 feet long when you include they're gross bald tails!!

All she wears is rubber boots. She doesn't like pants or shoes. So, we throw clothes on her when she leaves the house and we keep boots in the car! She has 4 pairs of rubber boots and we just match them to whatever outfit she's wearing. She has black ones, frog ones, lady bug ones and those purple ones! She's a tomboy! She wanted to pick up the rats - thats where I draw the line!!! Thanks!

Orange toothed beaver rats....Is it their food that makes their teeth so orange? Someone should introduce them to brushing...
