Hi folks,

Iīm creating a gigantic book cover for an ad thatīs
going to be shown on the sides of a van of an actual cover
in which thereīs a inner shadow on the title of the book.

This is a bok cover I didnīt created and which I have
to translate now for a much bigger scale.

As this is so big Iīm creating it in Illustrator but
I canīt find the Inner Shadow anywhere.

Could you let me know where I can find it or in case
thereīs not such feature in Illustrator any way around
this to accomplish the same thing?

This is a very urgent job I should be delivering today
so you can imagine the pressure Iīm in.

Any direction/suggestions you can offer me would be
very much appreciated!

Thanks a lot!!!

Paulo

The only thing I can think of is to convert your font to outlines and ungroup the characters. Then make a copy of the individual character with just a thickish stroke, which you then expand and blur slightly, and no fill. Place it centrally under the original character and and use the original characetr as a clipping mask. The give the clipping path a stroke & fill colour and your done. If that makes no sense whatsoever I am sorry.

Possibly a radial gradient as well???

Good luck!

Thanks Godders!

However, this is way above my Illustrator level of skill. :(

Letīs see how I can handle this hot potato.

Thanks, Paulo

Ok, this might work. Select your text and convert to outlines. Go to:

Effects; Stylise; outer glow

Change the colour to a dark colour and transparancy to normal and mess about with the settings to get your desired result!

I can see PrintDriver glowing from here. Not sure, but I think it's an 'outer' glow.

Shadow effects, AI, large format. Hoo boy.

Bzzt Bzzt Bzzt.
Does that sound like a neon glow?
:D

Broacher, I've had surprisingly little trouble with shadow effects (I can think of only one really bad experience but that was long ago when all these effects were new). As long as it's an Effect AND your printer knows how to handle the raster effects resolution in Illy (most do).

Inner Glow is an Effect BTW.

I hope you are creating your file at actual size.

take the text

dupe it. ...make it black.

Gaussin Blur it and then you can use that as your inner shadow. might have to manipulate it a bit. but it works.

Thanks Godders!

It worked pretty good. Not as well as Photoshop but good.

Iīd also like to thank Broacher and Printdriver for jumping in.

Thanks guys! :)
