I am looking for a good print company to work with in my graphic design business. I do not want to print products myself, but send away to get them done. I want to have a variety of choices in papers, stocks, weights, etc. to choose from and be able to show my clients. All I can seem to find are "do it fast" companies who only use strictly "matte or glossy" stock, which isn't going to work. What do other designers use for this process? Thanks for any help!

I was just trying to cover the angles in case people don't read every single category. I didn't know people would be offended. Sorry.
We're not offended mjaraas, it's just that 99% of our regulars use the new posts button so you don't need to worry about your post getting missed. Duplicate posts end up getting confusing.
Anyway virtually all the online printers gang a bunch of jobs all on the same press sheet which is why they can offer such good prices. You will need to establish a relationship with a local printer to get all the options you are seeking.

I live in a very small town without a good local printer, which is why I was looking elsewhere. I wish we had a good printer here, it would make things easier!

Business cards, letterhead, envelopes, brochures....probably not large format, we actually do have a good company locally for that.

when I need to find contacts, I go to www.switchboard.com and type in "printer" within 50 miles of my zip code... then I contact the companies that are returned as results and ask for samples.

You'll just need to check locally. Email what you are looking for to them.
I don't think I would ever use an online printer myself. There are too many good places locally and I need to see samples y'know?

And understand that the prices on the type of jobs you're talking about will be much higher than the prices you'll see at any of the online cheap+fast printers.

And that's because you're paying for your own plates and stock whereas online, they will probably use the cheapest mass bought stock they can get their hands on, gang up a bunch of different designs on the same plates to reduce plate costs.
Still get some quotes locally first to see who is cheaper.
