Balloon Festival

We went to the Adirondack Balloon Festival this afternoon. The kids had a great time and we got to see all sorts of balloons. The big launch is tomorrow ... 100+ balloons... but we saw about 60 today and that was good enough for me. Here are a bunch of shots I took. The sun kept coming and going.... it would go from overcast to bright sun. It was driving me bonkers trying to get the settings right

They didn't start filling up until 6pm and it began getting dark around 6:45.... I did the best I could with them... some turned out fairly good :)

Nice Kittie. I'm glad they got a flight off. I saw the weather wasn't looking good for that festival. Hubbie is a pilot and we have a balloon. Should go to the glow if they have one. Those are great photo ops!

We were worried.... it looked like the skies could open up at any time :eek:

MoonGlow is tomorrow night up in Lake George..... and man..... its a madhouse. I have tried to go a couple years and I can't begin to get close enough to get any decent shots :(

But I have seen some photo's taken from that and they are so sweet. :)

It was..... I do love the balloons.... they are all so colorful ;)


You need to go to a festival Urst if you get the chance.... they have teathered rides for like 5 bucks... the girls went up in one last year.

Those "cloudhopper" balloonists are crazy! Straddling a propane tank flying through the air! Nuh-uh!

Most rallies need volunteer crew too. Just contact the organizers beforehand to volunteer. They usually fly sponsors at these events but once in a while we ask our crew if they want a ride if the sponsors aren't around.

They were pretty brave going up ... but there were so many people there I am sure they didn't want to disappoint the kids .... I think there were a million :D

That cam has fine color, particularly the reds. Greens are a little pale, but then I didn't see the grass in person. Might be dead on

It was great .... and you know things happen for a reason sometimes. We had originally planned to spend all day up there Saturday... Well the nieces father ... as he usually does changed his mind about when he wanted to take them... instead of taking them friday he wanted to take them saturday. So we changed our plans and went Friday afternoon when they got home from school.

Had we gone Saturday ... we would have been out of luck. It poured all weekend. I just feel bad for those that make a weekend of it .. They didn't get to see much of anything :(

Oh i envy you so much! I didn't get to go this year *cry* I was looking forward toit for weeks and I waited till Sunday and none went up on sunday it was such a crappy day.

I got this one friday Night but missed the good days. Kinda sucks lighting was terrible and balloon was half a mile away. To much zoom and no light always gives me trouble.

No, I work for a label manufacturer just around the corner. I am a processor operator for GF labels. A small company with a BIG impact.
