Why is that sometimes I can´t click and drag?

Hi,

I´m starting to work with Illustrator and I have found
some times I´m able to click and drag the type I write
and can easily tweak it as I want and some times
I´m not able to do that since it doesn´t allow me to
click and drag.

Do you know how I can control that?

Is it possible that the text has been converted to outlines? Or that the layer or type object is locked?

Illy is kinda wierd in that you have to highlight the text box first by clicking on it, and then you can drag. If you don't, you just keep making text boxes all over the place!
