I'm excited...I think this is my best piece yet! I hope all of you like it as much as me. I just finished it up and have sent the concept to the customer for his approval so we'll see what he says.

The car is being built right now and is currently just a chassis on the ground in a lot of pieces. Lots of work is yet to come on the car, but this is my rendering that will assist and inspire them in building the car.

He is also submitting the rendering to Wilwood to see about getting some discounted brakes for the car.

Anyway, here's the rendering I've been slavin' over for the last week/weekend...

Feedback?...comments? If you have a moment, let me hear it please.

THANKS!!

btw...it's all done 100% in Illy as vector art. ;-)

loving it, YNOT! Your vectors are amazing.

How awesome that you get to help inspire them in the building process! What a neat feeling that must be.

Did you delete the image YNOT...I can't see anything there.

Great stuff as always Ynot, I love the colors and the background of the engine and tire highlighting the brakes. My only suggestion would be as typographics stated would be to maybe add a highlight or alter the shadow on the ground because the front tire does look flat.

Slick. That's a sweet car too.

Looks great YNOT, yeah the tire looks flat because of the shadow, but that's easily fixable. There's too many little sparkles for me, but that's just opinion.

Nice work.

Beautiful! I love it and I love the color, too.

One thing that looks a little bit off is the dart that is coming out under the left hand head light. It may just be the perspective the car is at, but it seems like it's not the same size as the one on the right hand side and it seems to hang lower. I've stared at it for a while to determine if it's just me. Since I can't tell if it's just my eyes, I figured I'd mention it.

Your right Corn, it's not the dart it's the way the grill below it curves around. On the passenger side it curves to the outside but on the driver side it curves to the inside. I didn't even notice it at first.

Sweet work dude. I had only checked out your site about a week ago. Slick stuff man, what a buzz to see your finished products on an actual car.

Fantastic.

Do you do these from your own sketches based on clients desires? Then straight to illy?

Sweet. What rewarding work!!!

Do you do these from your own sketches based on clients desires? Then straight to illy?

It all depends on these. If the car is available, I'll photograph the car to work from. In this case, the car is in a million pieces so I found a photo of a 57 from a magazine in a view that I liked, then using mylar, penciled it out adjusting to the proper height and penciling in the desired wheels, grill modifications, etc. Then scan it in and trace over my pencil-work in Illustrator.

The motor on the other hand was a bear though. I photographed the motor...just the block, pulleys and valve covers. Then from a magazine I drew the injection componenets in the appropriate angles. Then again, scanned my 'pencil' in and traced in Illy.

If I think about it, I'll post the sketches and stuff to show more of how I did it.

I'm going to do a slight bit of 'tweaking' on a few items but I'm waiting until I hear from the customer first to see what changes he may have.

I love doing these renderings...so much fun, although VERY time consuming. I've got around 7 hours in the car itself from pencil sketch to illy...then another 5 hours in the motor and another 4 in the wheel/brake illustration.

Thanks for the positive comments everyone!

Great stuff...love the illy and your style. Course I always have had a soft spot for the tri-fives.

looks very very sick!

You have some very good skills.. I need to learn Illustrator myself I don't know much about it.

a suggestion for the tire problem stated earlier (flatness) you could try a lighter shade for the shadow than black. Perhaps a medium gray or 75%?

keep up the excellent work.

any tutorials you would suggest for illustrator? did you use a tablet to trace it?

A couple of months ago I emailed the person from this site. He just responded to me today and when I get a chance to read it I will post. Just skimming over it, it has some sweet tips.

Thanks for all of the comments. I wrapped this all up for the customer, framed it and delivered, so here's a look at the final approved piece...

And for fun, I took my final color illy and dropped it over my pencil sketch and faded it out so you can see a bit of both...

Thanks again for the comments, the customer was extremely happy with it. Now I can't wait to see the car completed!!
