Hey everyone - I have a quick one. I hope.
The thing is - I just installed the Illustrator CS2 on my computer. Mac, G5 - plenty of ram + hard drive space ... When I turn on the illustrator, a window pops us saying: "Could not complete the requested operation." And then It quits. and another window pops up - saying : "The application Illustrator has unexectedly quit" I'm not too sure about that's going on there.

any suggestions?

Thanks so much

Try repairing your permissions?

its not a cracked version - its the 30 day trial thing. I had a previous version installed - do u think that's messing it up somehow?

Have you cleaned out your font cache? That could cause what you're describing.

I'll give that a try - i knew that that could possibly be the problem but i didn't want to do something i wasn't sure about...

do u have any more suggestions - or feelings about what it could be?

Do different versions of Illustrator / or other Adobe products have issues when being on the same system at the same time with each other?

Nope. I run versions 10 through CS2 all the time, at the same time.
(Don't ask. Production work.)

THis happens on my PC all the time....my imac never has this problem....When I close it on my Pc and re open it...it works just fine....I have to do this everytime I reboot my PC. I never use my pc illustrator anymore though so it doesn't matter to me anyways!

boot into single mode and run the sbin/fsck -fy if the repairing permissions doesn't work..... do you have a million fonts active? Word to PD and keeping all version around ....just in case I still love 9 for it's ability to redefine the resolution of a vector. I need that when I get those crappy .eps files with chunky curves, usually a badly done export from Corel.

u see - it doesn't open anywhere - and every time i try it does the same thing. as for pc's - running such applications on pc's have also given me trouble, so i don't even bother anymore.

blow away the associated plist files and reinstall possibly.....have you done the permissions?

make sure you are in on administrator account when you do.

You mentioned earlier that it is a trial version that you have installed before on the same PC.....that may be the problem. Some trial versions place a file or a code (or something) on you computer that will not let you trial it again....but if I am wrong, please read the signature!

oh no - the trial thing - first time - and its a mac.

as for permissions and such - i have yet to try that. i'm reinstalling it after cleaning the font cache thing... we'll see if it works, i sure hope so..
