The layout looks good, but the top part doesn't do it... Maybe another color...

the white text is tough to read against the brightly colored backgrounds. Either change the text color, the bg color, or make your typography more bold and ledgible.
I'm not feeling the sepia tones and browns against the blues and greens. Maybe experiment with different tones on the top, but overall, nice looking design.

From what I can tell this site is going to promote your skills in design. The overall impression I get from it is that it's a very out-dated design. The general layout style doesn't really communicate any new ideas and the use of a "futuristic" font (which is dated) doesn't help this.
The semi-transparent "webeffex" text in the header is difficult to read against a background of various tones. Also, the header looks uneasy in relation to the other colour in the site since it's more saturated and a completely different colour.
Finally, at the bottom right, the curve of the white pane appears to bulge out, which looks a bit odd.
I think your layout could be fine if you addressed a couple of these issues.
Just my 2 pence.
