Hello. I am fairly new posting on these forums. I need some critique, tips, feedback, and/or opinions for a logo. This is a school project that I started about 3 weeks ago. It is for the Rio Hondo Symphony that will celebrate their 75th anniversary next year. This is the one I chose to develop and refine.

I like how you thought it out.
Wow! silver 9or is it diamond?) Jubilee, eh. 75 years is no mean feat.

I see the instrument in the nagative space, nice concept.

Allow me to suggest that you try to make the variation in thickness of lines more consistent. I feelt the lines in the "H" are too narrow in comparison to the "R"s.
Also the logo is generally "top-heavy"- the text "Rio Hondo Symphony" has too thin a stroke to support the visual weight of the "RHS" logo type.

The horizontal line between the two logo elements is unecessary.

I agree i think the lines in the H are too narrow in comparison to the R.
also mayb try the type layed out as

rio hondo
symphony

just a thought might be worth a try just to contain the elements more
overall though i think its looking pretty good!:)

yeah bring the extension of the R up and make it symmetrical with the S

youll still have the implied R youre going for i think.

oh and I can't say that I am in love with the font youve used.... I think given the nature of the logo itself...it begs to have a seriffed font....which is highly unusual for me to want to see

I agree with the King about the symmetry of the R and the S...there needs to be more balance between the two. Also a bit more weight to the H. After that, some experimentation with other fonts for the bottom text...serif might do the trick as suggested earlier. Good start, though.

I forgot to mention one thing abot the "75th Anniversary". this is obviously not part of the logo, and may not continiously ran along the logo beyond one year right?
I would suggest that you graphically separate it from the logo in terms of type and placement, and perhaps in printing.

BTW, was I right? Is that diamond or silver anniversary? I think it's diamond.

If it is "diamond", that could influence how you present the "75th Anniversary"; just a thought.

75 years is diamonds how about Diamond Jubilee—greater cause for celebration

Thanks Capezio.

I think Anniversary sounds more posh though...seeing as it's a symphony...

i actually have done a ton of print and design work for the university in my towns symphony including and up to my work for the placido domingo concert. (no i wasnt a university worker...i was brought in to do the work)

ill never in my life understand the desire for 'posh' when it is so close to 'pompous' when the actual end result desired by classical music types is to bring their love of that type of music and appreciation to the masses

dont chastize me...just thinking out loud

that said...i would find some way to separate the 75th anniversary part....it is sort of just hanging there without a home

as far as the wording goes...i think its just a matter of preference...depending on how playful your group is
