This may be waaaaaaay to picky, but with the speakers pointing in opposite directions it draws my eyes away from whats going on in the middle, it almost makes me want to go reverse cross-eyed.

Yeah, could you try rotating them inward? I don't like the blue behind the speakers alone, but I suppose if there are blue elements in the page, it would associate with those pretty well.

id add maybe a blue glowing stroke, or make your emboss blue colored to it. also i agree with the speaker idea, but i see what your going for, if the elements in the middle were more dominant then the spears facing outward would be ok with me.

THANKS GUYS! i really like this place heres the speakers inverted, and also there is no blue on the page, I thought it would be a decent looking accent, but you guys are right i think...........check it out

check your highlights.. they dont look right. it looks as if the speakers are upside down. the inside arc feels like it should be on the bottom? try to mirror them on the current angle.

Yeah, that's what I meant, not literally using the rotate tool. I should have just said 'flip.' ;)

I think you could make those letters pop a bit if you gave them some color. They're kind of getting lost.

I agree but how? with a stroke of color? or add color to the body of the text? or? ill tinker and see what i can do.

I am just jumping into this thread and I see the beginning and the now and the only thing I don't like about the now is....the letters "em" are in an equilizer kind of design but it doesn't appeal to me. Yours looks like digital waves. If you are going to keep the digital wave look, make the peaking bars a different color than the lower bars. I hope I make sense!

Is it necessary to have all of the text in that equalizer kind of font?
maybe just the logo, and then put the full title in some sort of legible text.

There is still something "funny" going on with the speakers... I can't really put my finger on it. They look a little oblong to me and I think the arc stroke is too far in. Maybe bring it out toward the edge a little more? As far as the copy line at top... maybe a very thin black stroke would help make it "pop"

That's not being picky at all - it's critiquing the visual flow of the design piece. Don't be afraid to rip people apart as long as you do so professionaly imo.

A design forum becomes completely useless when people start praising or rejecting everything without proper analysis of the fundamental elements of design.

I like this one better. However, the neck of the guitar needs some work.

reuber1
10-03-2006, 09:21 PM
^^^ Exactly, it needs some frets and a smidgeon of depth. Those necks aren't paper thin, and that's how it looks. Shouldn't take too long to touch it up.

I like the one with the guitar and think you just need to fatten up the neck a bit. Maybe add some strings.

This last one looks like folk music mixed with some techno-pop. I don't htink it's working as well.

It's definitely getting there.

Looks much better, although I'm not sure on the style of music there. One nitpick, does their hair have to be grey? Can't it just be black and blend in with the characters themselves?

Caddyman
10-04-2006, 03:39 AM
i surely can make the hair black, and the forum is for all kind of music, that image i took from a picture of dave mathews band and traced over it :)

WELL i lost the contest this was for :( I should have listended to the poster here that said it was kinda off with respect to the guys looked like a folk band. the guy who wons' design had a more rockband like image with a drummer and whatnot.

thanks for the help guys, and this experience i think really helped me to further myself, this was alot different then alot of the graphics i have done

thanks again to all!

and p.s. the pic i used to make the band abaove was a pic of the Dave Mathews Band.
