Ok, so we've told our boss not to trust his computer screen for colours. He didn't listen. But I can't handle him putting a ruler up to his monitor to measure jobs on his screen to let us know what size they are!

I think secretly dumb acts like this make me smart. He still can't figure out why we don't want him to do this...When you zoom in..*remeasures*...Oh, look the print size has changed again!!!

Zoom in, zoom out, zoom in, zoom out....

Thing is, he thought that lady was hilarious. He gets faxes. He doesn't get computers. I guess he's being using faxes for longer than he's been using computers???

Grrr...

It works in reverse technology terms as well, sometimes people that use computers alot forget how to work traditional forms of comunication.

Ever been writing a letter made a mistake and looked for the CTRL+Z key on the page?

I was taking notes at a meeting this week, and alot was being translated, so I was listening on earphones. I wanted to press "rewind" or something to repeat the voice a couple of times;but Alas!

My boss told me that if you want to get the scanner to go faster, just set the DPI lower.

And I quote "You know, if you leave it at 300, it takes forever to finish"

Then again, this is the same man who, during my first week on the job asked me why his text was " leaning " LEANING for gods sake, it was italics :(

CTRL Z - I thought I was the only one that thought that? Hmmm funny. I knew that you guys were my comrads.

I work in the printing industry, and people don't understand that it takes more then a few minutes to print a 11x17 12 page newsletter. I then go through the steps with them (making plates blah blah blah) and they are like "well at Office Max they just..." or "at home I just press print".
Hmmm customers. Some days I just want to say "then go somewhere else! or do it your self at home, why did you come to me?"

Because we are a small shop, for some reason old people and people from other countries flock to us. Don't get me wrong we love all the business, but it is really hard to explain printing, designing to people who have not mastered the fax machine yet, and email is a concept that they just can not grasp. Or explaining technical issues to customers that english is not there native language.

I posted this on the faxlady thread but man poeple are dumb!

My boyfriend is developing software for extracting information from documents. The client wnated to show them what the documents looked like so he sent them a scan of a document. My boyfriend was having trouble reading it and getting a good document when he found out that the guy had taken a picture of the document with a digital camera... then put the digital camera *itself* on the bed of the scanner and scanned the LCD screen and sent him that. wow.

"My boss told me that if you want to get the scanner to go faster, just set the DPI lower" It is true. But if you need more DPI, I prefer to wait :P

More than once I tried to reach to the remote control to increase the volume of someone speaking too low. The mute one would be really handy.

That people do stupid stuff? Yeah, it can be a pain. But luckily, that is what makes non-stupid valuable. So just keep'em that way, that's fine by me :D

this is when you get to engage in a little bit of "tough love"... these people need to learn, and we want to HELP them, now DON'T we.

(or at least encourage them not to reproduce...)

so wait until they have a nice hot cup of coffee, and then ask them what is written on the bottom of the cup.

after that, you might want to run.

No, but I was reading a book at my desk a few weeks ago and reached for the mouse to turn the page.
