I'm an Interactive Media Design student at Dundee University, and one of our first assignments is to create a journal of "What is my working definition of Interactive Media Design?"
As part of my research I have decided to gather other people's opinions of what Interactive Media Design is.
Just in case any of you think I'm trying to get you to do my work for me, any opinions you give will be referenced as your own, and I will use them to decide what my own definition is.
Thank you in advance for any replies!

Depends on how you use it.
In the museum design industry the interactive games used to teach are 'interactive design' whether the 'media' is computerized or mechanical.
An ATM is interactive design at a most basic level.

interactive media design, eh? The first thing I think of web design: links, buttons, etc.
I design mostly for print. I guess even printed pieces could be interactive, like pop up books for kids, and scratch off lotto tickets. But I think that the word "media" is making me think that it is something more electronic, and stuff.

It's media design that is interactive. :)
Seriously, I think that interactive media design is any type of design that has interactivity with the viewer (ATMs, Kiosks, etc.), but this can also include websites where there is link or button to click, so pretty much all web design is interactive media design, since you will always find links on them. Banner ads are also interactive media, since the viewer must interact with the ad (if it is a pop up to close it, or if it is one of those annoying "pseudo popups-that-is-actually-just-javascript-layers-work" ads that you have to click on the close button.

Thanks for your replies so far.
I e-mailed a few companies that I considered to be interactive media designers, and I've had a good response from GFDD (http://www.gfdd.net), but I won't post it yet because it may sway other people's opinions of what IMD is.
