Hi, doing a logo for a new company that will sell Chinese green teas, some Chinese herbal medicine and have online health advice from China. Owner wants the logo to have the following properties: Zen, minimalist, natural, health, harmony, Taoism.

Here's what I've got so far.

With #3 and #4 I'm trying to catch the Taoist symbol. Also thought about using something a bit more oriental looking as in #5. I probably need to fix the colours in #3.

I think they're all nice, but I like #3 the best. I think the leaf/Tao combo you made is really clever.

i agree with ylaenna on that one! quite clever. it works on 3 different levels that i counted in my 10 seconds of looking at it. cool!

would it be too much to put the other circle of the yang (or yin... i don't know which is which) in the leaf? i don't even think it needs it, actually. that's the one, in my books.

I would say #3 also, but if you hadnt of put #4 right below it....I would of never had guessed that was the ying yang symbol....and im not sure about the colors...#1 seems to have the most contrast, so that stands out to me....just a personal opinion, but I think if those are the final comps....#1 would be the best ^ ^

Thanks for all the comments. I've tried to improve the colour and also get more of a circle feel so the Yin-Yang symbol is more noticeable. I guess I should pick 3 or 4 max to send to the client. Anyone else find that sending too many just encourages indecision?

YES Benjamin....If you send differnt logos to the client, it is only hurting yourself....I feel like the contrast is too low on most of those imaages, but for the love of god whatever you do, dont send more than one comp....If you yourself can not decide how the finished logo should look, how do you excpect the client to decide? It would be the worst mistake in Graphic Design history!!

I like the new #1.

Thefont you chose is perfect for your logo, and I like the "natural" colors.

I also think that you did a great job giving it more of a "circular" feel to it - it's easier to
interpret than the original.

Nice work!

I still like 'em all! But if I had to choose, in the new set, I'd pick #2.

1 or 2 both work great! Nice choice of type, you have great typography skills!

But I don't agree with Zartan on the one comp idea. Your working for a client to produce a product! When you go to the store to bye things do you only have one choice? Giving your client only your favorate choice is to me unfair and unprofessional. I give my clients a min of 3 and sometimes as many as 10-15 choices to pick from (depending on the person)

Isn't it up to the client to choose there logo and decide on there final look?

If you ask me I think that that statement was the worst mistake in graphic design history!!

#3 on the original set gets my vote. And btw I think it's really good. If people don't notice the ying/yang aspect of if right away, all the better...

Benjamin,
Your work is very nice. It's easy on the eyes and makes me want to keep looking. I prefer 1 & 4 of the 2nd set.

Benjamin,

they are all elegant and expressive of new age feelings, love them all, but the the new number one is my favorite. I really like the yin/yang usage, but there is something striking about the leaves on the others, say the new number three, but with the words underneath. I think they tell the whole story....Good job.
Peace
Patricia

1 and 3 for me.

3 is solid. very nice with a great overall consistant flow. It has a nice balance to it.

1 I think has the most potential though. The type and art work GREAT together. The curvature of the t and a's really match the lines of the artwork to me. (curvature of t&a... sorry :P )
The thing I dont like about it is that the artwork doesnt represent itself well as a replacement for the V. IMO this type of situation should be a quick recognition and I dont get that right now. I'm not feelin the leaf represents a V well. Its nice but it feels a bit seperated. Otherwise great work.

The others I dont feel are as complete or harmonious. 4 doesnt have the total blending of style like 3 and 1 do. Feels a little awkward.

I'd really love to see you work on that 1 though.

I like this one, too. Simple but memorable.
I like the color scheme. What do the characters at the left say?

So fresh and so clean...

Love number 1 very clever. I like the last one to, but the red is distracting a bit. Maybe also if it was wrapped up in something? Great work btw.

I kinda figured, but hey, you never know! That's impressive - how did you get it translated?

Benjamin

The client had it translated. Actually this guy wants something different now. More like a complete landscape with a mountain and birds. I told him it will be too much for a logo but hey ...
