I'm attempting to redesign a logo while maintaining the symbolism of the original design.

Original: www.fmgo.org (http://www.fmgo.org/)

Redesign: http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/3829

It still feels too 80's to me. I'm looking for input on my next direction.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

i really like it.

my only critque would be is that the text needs to be rotated slightly clockwise. i don't know if it's just me, but it looks slightly anti-clockwise at the moment.

i don't know if that's how it's supposed to be.

I like the idea of it but i am not digging the font all that much. I also think that you might not need as many peope behind the glode as you have.

I agree with steve. couple of minor changes like that and I think it will end up great.

I like it so far

Do you have a black/white version? It's 3 colors, that's gonna be expensive to print. If you make it spot colors, then I think the gradient is likely to plug up on the press. How well does it reduce? The costs concerns me because typically mission organizations aren't exactly loaded down with money to sink into printing.

As far as critiquing it, here's what I think. Religious organizations are really keen on people images surrounding a globe. That being said, I don't think it's very original. Overall, I think it's a nice interpretation of the idea of people surrounding a globe, though. If this is what you go with, then I think the kerning on "of" needs to be tightened. I'm not too crazy about the font either.

Thanks for all the input. I'll work on the font. Do you have any good (safe) sites for free fonts?

Here is the B&W version with some minor changes:

I'll keep working on it.

Thanks again.

I agree that the idea is not original and over done. The font doesn't work for me either. What stands out most to me though is the name "...of Ohio" yet you have an image of the entire globe. It contridicts itself about who and what the focus is of the organization. Is it a world thing or just an Ohio thing? While I definitely believe it's an improvement from the first logo, I think it should be rethoughtout (yes, we make up words in the design field :)

I think the revision is better but still i think you should go with 4 people around the globe not 6, the topmost 4. Also the font is not working at all. The Small caps look weird expecially the 'uppercase' M. I would try some with all the same heights or maybe even not have it circle the clog and have it underneath.

I see where the confusion between the name and the globe but if the client is vibing on using some elements of the old with some new then what can you do. Also sometimes a job is a job. Some places I do logos for really want weird things that don't go. You just have to realize why they don't work and don't do them in a more personal design where you have more control over it. but i i totally see the confusion.

For me though right now its the fonts that totally kill it.

Hi cdanielski.
I think the improvement on the original (photo-montage) logo is HUGE. Though still has the same spirit, if that doesn't sound too fruffy. While I agree with others that the font isn't the best, I wonder if it suits the client. I hope that makes scense.

Re the figures, I defiantly agree with those who think you should go with the top four, the others kinda look like their drowning. I just noticed that the figures vary in size. I can see why and it's good but I wonder if the difference in size should more pronounced/more intentional. Well done though. Both the colour and B/W.

Cheers.

Thanks all!

I've made some additional tweaks here:
http://www.fmgo.org/images/fmgo_logo9.jpg

Their tagline is "Compassionate Hearts Making a World of Difference." Hence the use of the globe in my initial sketch. Since they go by FMGO, I've tried that in place of the continents. Let me know what you think.

I agree about the font...looks like sans-serif maybe the way to go.

Thanks again!

I am really liking it now. The one on the left (with continents) is the best. Having the initials in the globe seem superfluous as the name is there already. I think you are losing out on the benefit of the globe as a symbol by not having it. Now that you have got the figures down to 4 (thumbs up) how about making the outer two child size and the middle two Ma & Pa. I know it may be a bit stereotypical but will balance out the graphic well.
I hope you don't wish death on me but I think the font could still do with a rethink. It feels a little plain. That being said, I have just had a look through all of my fonts and can't find one I think look more suitable than the one you have chosen. So I'll shut up now.

Cheers.
