I have been hired to do a pizza restaurant logo for a very cheesy named place but whatever. They want something playful but not to kidliek(chucky-cheese crap). This is what i did. Also even though the are italian they didnt want red/green/whit everywhere so i went with some nice earthtones though i think this would function well in 2 color with a little tweaking,
tell me what you guys think

My first impression is why does Leonard have a pizza place. Only after I saw Mona Pizza did I put it together. So not immediatly effective in communicating the business name. That being said I think if you took the letter "o" that should be on the end of Leonardo, and streached it out to make the letter more of the crust of the pizza it would be more effective in coming across as Leonardo's.
That being said I'll mention the obvious problems of this design being a logo. It's too detailed to scale down. You'll loose the pizza toppings and details in the hands. So if your keeping this design, I'd work on those two parts.
I guess my question comes in why your not using the obvious here. Where's the Mona Lisa? I could see simple line drawing of her eating a slice of pizza. Or where's the Vetruvian Man? Could he be the round part of a pizza cutter?
***Oh man, there is SO MUCH that could be done with the division of the Vetruvian Man and the slices of a pizza.*** <- Just me being excited, but seriously there are sooo many ideas to explore here.
I think you should work up lots more pencil sketches, explore the obvious connections. Or give us more idea of what your client wants or who your client is and what the business is like and we can get a better understanding.
Hope it helps

I like it, It's a bit too messy for my taste though. I would clean up the pizza and simplify the hands a tad. I think it's the colors.. they are a classy combo that sort of conflicts with the sloppy lines. Two different themes going on there.

yeah, Im seeing "leonards" not Leonardos. Its a great idea, but Its not coming through yet. Also, the underlined text is throwing me off. I would definately get rid of that.
I really like Pat's idea for the Man inscribed in the circle. (vetruvian man, divine proportion, whatever its refered to as) Definately play with that, that could be awesome.

^^What he said. :)
I saw Leonard's not Leonardo's. I also agree that it is too busy and detailed. Simplicity on this level will work wonders. And the Vetruvian Man idea is excellent.

I saw leonard's as well.... without reading the comments first ;)
The concept is nice though... possibly with a rounder more simplistic pizza. A little smaller pie ... thinking similar to a trivial pursuit piece :)
I do like the color choice.

Agree with above...thought it said Leonard's, not Leonardo's.

I agree with the above - Leonard's not Leonardo's
Think the Mona Lisa idea is great - maybe a stylized version of her. Try to keep it simple and see if it works as a one colour and 2 colour version

I am hearing what you are saying. I drew the deatail while zoomed in to much and that why i think it seems clustered in that way. Also is the pizza is smaller it might have a much better effect. Even though it may sound weird i could not sell them on using the Mona Lisa. They were very against it. What would have been much easy for me to do a stylized version of that. I will work on it and post again in a day
thanks for the feed back

I don't know about using the Vetruvian man in a logo for food.
Nude men, no matter how well rendered might put some folks off their lunch, especially if it is to be "sliced up".
I'd play with the Mona Lisa idea, it's so iconic, that you'd be able to make it 1-2 color and simple and people would still recognize her even when reduced.
Just have the old gal seated at a table with a nice Neopolitan pie in front.

Personally I dont see a reason to break up the "'s" from the name with the image. It was confusing at first because my eye had to make a jump.
And 'mona pizza'? As a logo i feel it would work stronger if 'leonard's mona pizza' could read as a whole without having elements breaking it apart.
