just somethin that bugs me...wondering if there is another way around it....
sometimes...not all the time... :p i like to use the live trace. its an awesome tool if used correctly and cleaned up after.
but so on my PC at work i can just drag images in there and do a make and expand...but on my MAC at home...i have to save all the images as .jpgs first and then bring them into illustrator to do the live trace, otherwords its grayed out. i hate that!
maybe its just me being lazy.
Actually, I think that it is your computer. I work on both operating systems, and I've never had that problem.
Make sure your not locking the layers or anything silly like that.
If that doesn't work, try trashing your preferences.

Firefox and IE wouldn't have anything to do with LiveTrace.

If it isn't working by dragging, try placing.
Why would Firefox or IE interfere with Photoshop and Illustrator? Or are you trying to drag images from websites?

You have to File>Place the image on a Mac. I've never used LT on a PC, but I always have to place images first on my Mac.

You can do it either way.
If you only know one way to do something, you don't truely know how to do it. This is especially true with software.

I have had problems from time to time on that very same thing.
Try 'Open With' and it works for me. Never bothered to figure out why it happens but it fixed it.
