Motion Blur in Illy?

I have gaussian, radial and smart blur but no motion. Is there a quick way to make a motion blur effect in Illustrator? I am having to rebuild something made in Photoshop and have tooled around for a bit, searched the interenet and still cant seem to get anything that looks good. It's basically some numbers turning over - the end two look like they are spinning from the top - but as it is right now the motion is missing.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You could try the blend tool with specified steps.

actually ignore that, wouldn't apply to whatyou want.

I sense the need for some transparencies and use of rotation tool.

Yeah I tried that... it's kinda hard becauses it's black background with red type... messing with the trasparency just makes it look muddy.
