I’m working on an Adobe InDesign 2.0 project, which I’m having an unusual text issue. Or at least for the novice qp it is unusual.
First off I worked up my document 8 pages. Setting up 6 columns. Placing pictures where I wish to have them. “ Keep in mind the 6 column setting is to keep the photos aligned for the magazine consistency.” Then I inserted text boxes with photo ID’s. I then place a text wrap around all the text and photo’s.
My next step was to insert the text from a Word doc. I copied and pasted the text in one column on each page using the font want from Word. Then changed the text color and stroke each with a different color.
Here’s where my problem arises.
Document looks great till I get to page 5 and 6. On 5 and 6 the text is a different color. I highlight those two pages and I can change the color, but it is still different from the other pages. I can’t figure out why in the original paste it doesn’t work right. I’ve deleted and re tried several times and it does the same thing.
Any ideas? I figure I’m missing something simple or at least hoping I am. Possibly a doc set up issue?
Thanks qp

How about if you duplicate pages 1 and 2, and then replace the text for 1 and 2 for 5 and 6?
No idea about this. I'd just try tricking the computer until it's right.

you may be able to set up a style sheet according to your specs the assign the copy to that style.

Stil having issues. I tried the above steps and it is still different. Seems more different in the stroke than anything else. But the stroke settings, and the text settings are still one in the same on the Adobe Doc.
I'm wondering has anyone had copy and paste issues from a Word doc to In Design doc? I doubled checked the Word Doc all the text is the same and set correctly.

Ok so I started over from the begining.
Inserted text first then installing my photos and caption boxes. All of the text copy and paste fine into the new doc. "UNTIL" I start installing my photo's and captions I find again on page 4 and 5 it changed the text as it did before. On page 4 (see jpeg) I have a photo overlaiding a photo feathering it into the photo behind. Could this effect the text? I'll try note pad and see if it works this way. Whats really getting me the problem is only on pg 4 and 5. Page 3 and 6 are as I whis them to be.
Thanks qp

For whatever it's worth, I've had weird issues with documents converted from Quark, where I've had to manually reset the character style to None, and then my style sheets will work properly. I don't know if this is a similar phenomenon to what's happening to you, and I use CS2, not InDesign 2.0, so I'm not sure how much might have changed between those versions.

I'm assuming here that your black background is separate from your text. If it isn't, you will have a much better time if you set it up that way.
Try this: set up layers for your black background, images, and text. In the layers palette, just make the two additional layers by clicking twice on the New Layer icon in the bottom of the palette.
On each page, one at a time, do this: shift-click on each of the text frames until they are all selected. In the layers palette, you'll see a tiny light blue square to the right of the bottom layer. Click and drag it to the TOP layer. All your text frames will turn green (or whatever color the top layer icon is).
Next, again on each page, shift-click all the pictures and drag the little square to the middle layer. Their frames will turn red.
On the problem pages, click the main text frame and be sure that transparency is Normal and 100%.
I hope this helps and I haven't thrown you a curve out of a later version. Indy 2 was a long time ago...

Thanks Everyone
I haven't worked out the issues as of yet. Got a bit frustrated with it this afternoon and took a break from it. I'll let you know how it works out in the next day or so.
Thanks Again
