I am a third year Digital Media Studies Major at the University of Detroit Mercy in where else but Detroit, Michigan! :D

The program was formerly called Electronic Critique and was interdisciplinary. It was heavy on theory about technology but also had us do design based work, which was critiqued heavily in class.

The program is switching directions, and names, into a more design based format. Video, Web Design, Graphic Design, etc...

Right now I have an internship with the Athletics Marketing department designing flyers, posters, mailers, pocket schedules, and websites.

I have an interest in doing this type of work professionally. Hopefully they add some more classes where we get to design mock logos, mock book covers, CD art, etc... Right now, its more artsy type stuff...not my favorite.

Anyways. It looks like this is a good place to recieve critiques on commercial type graphic design. I look forward to giving and recieving critiques on this site.

^ welcome dude.. i go to school 20 miles south of toledo in ohio.. do you have alot of work to showcase already or have you just gotten started with ur work?

Do you go to BGSU? I travel into Ohio often to visit friends in southern ohio or for work.

I have some work to showcase. My first couple years at UDM was mostly theory, and the design projects I did turn out were more theory based than design based.

Working with the athletic department now has given me an opportunity to create commercial type graphics that will be mass produced. In the showcase forum, I have the poster I am currently working on.

I am also designing a webpage for their student fan club/rewards program. I might post that here soon...after midterms.

This is a pretty active forum about Detroit Sports, run by 2 radio hosts in Detroit who have the highest rated sports show (might only be second highest) in the market. I was able to send them input on their old design, which was pretty bad, and they brought me on board as a mod and allowed me to do design work for them.
