I'm headed to the local humane society after work today with the intention of adopting myself a dog. On their website they have a 1 year old black lab mix named Stewie, he's what's bringing me there but I hope regardless of what dogs are there that I find the right one for me and go home with a dog tonight.
I'll post pictures soon if I get one. I can't decide on what I'd want to name him though... we'll see

I like Merle (after Merle Haggard) so I could call Him Merle, Merley, Hag, and when he get's old "Old Hag"
maybe Gordon (after Gordon "Alf" Shumway)
I've also always liked the name Tatum (like the old boxer or Rose McGowan's character from Scream)
I better think quick, i'm heading out in about an hour to go to the humane society

I think you should name it Cornfed. It's really a great name for a dog. I had a black lab named Cornbread. My brother in law thought the dog was so big that he called him Cornfed. That's how I got my user name. It's meant to be colonel. It really is.

We're adopting a bunny too. It's been in the process for a wee while, but she should be arriving this afternoon. I can't wait!

Oh! I hope you find just the right doggie for you, Colonel.
I love my doggies and can't imagine life without them. If I didn't have them, life would be too serious. And besides, who would remind me that it's dinnertime when I'm in the middle of a project?

That's great, Colonel and Buda.
It's awesome that you're adopting, Colonel, you're going to make some doggie very happy. I'd wait to worry about naming it until after you bring it home and get a sense of its personality. Plus, depending on how old it is, it might already have a name that works. Anyway, kudos to you for adopting. :)

I still vote for cornfed. It's gonna be eating something that is bound to have corn in it. Post a pic as soon as you can. Then we can all vote on a name. Cornfed can be #1 on the ballot. ;)

LOL! I so want to write a political mud-slinging comment to sway you away from Cornfed and towards Balou but I'm so sick of the ads on tv I just can't bring myself to do it! :D
I like Merle (after Merle Haggard) so I could call Him Merle, Merley, Hag, and when he get's old "Old Hag"
Merle the Dog
an excellent choice :D
