First I haven't really had much time to look around. I'm hoping this is even
the right forum for me to be in.
I'm looking for a forum to help with and learning the in's and out's with plotters.
Am I in the right place or is this mainly just computer graphics. Either way I'm interested in both.
Right now I just work with pencil and airbrush, but I would like to get away from
the paint and the problems you have with weather. I think the computer is safer
somewhat. I also think and have seen people will dump 30 bucks for some
decals or stickers than they will some crazy painted car for a few grand.
So it seems to add up faster from what I can figure. Here are a couple pic of my work. Thanks

Hi and welcome.
I'm not sure what a plotter is - hope you find what you are looking for! :)
I see your work is illustrative. Are you always working on cars or do you do other illustrativ work too?

Hello budafist. A plotter is like a printer, but instead it uses knifes and
cuts stuff out. It works off of vector. So say you put in a vector image
of car. You can cut it out using vinyl and make it a sticker. I can't say for sure yet, but around here anyway most of any sticker you see on a car is done from
a graphic plotter.
I'm thinking this isn't the right place for my info on this subject. I do think it's a good place for the computer part far as vector images. I really don't know
much about this or how to make my own so I hope I can learn here.
No I don't do much automotive. I was wanting to get into it, but there is so
much to do and the weather around here doesn't help. The humidity is alway high here so painting and clear stuff is really hard unless you have the controled environment for it. I do airbrushed wall murals also. Then my pencil work.
Red Kittie Kat thanks very much. It's nice to meet you.
Really I'm just lost I think. So much I want to do and can do. Just don't know how to put it all together.

Oh right, we had a vinyl cutter at a copy shop I worked at once. It wasn't very big, it only took vinyl up to around A3 size - we used it mostly for T-shirts - just heat press it on and viola! Biggest bitch was to weed out all the little bites like the counter in "e".
Are you doing this freelance or for a company?
If you're looking to do this full time, I guess the best bet is to approach some businesses that do this.
Best of luck!
