I have just taken over someone elses position and have inherited their PC and I am now faced with an issue I have never seen before let alone know how to fix.
I have signed in as myself and have access to the various programmes etc however InDesign is having a mare.

If I pick up a previously created document and add a new page, not only does the last page jump to one side (as if it is part of a spread) but all of the images after the the new page, jump side ways aligning with end page. The main image box stays true to its original position but the contents moves to the left.

I have looked through everything - am I missing something - has this happened to anyone else.

I really don't understand whats going on and the only thing I can think of is that its down to the permissions on the PC.

I think it has something to do with your page settings accessible through the Pages palette. Check your 'keep spreads together' and 'allow pages to shuffle' settings. And are there any 'sections' inserted?

Not quite sure what's going on with that...have you checked the master pages?

From your description, you have master pages set up with different left/right alignment. If you add in a single page, you move things that were on right-facing pages onto left-facing, and vice versa, from your insertion point to the end of the document. You can verify this by inserting a second new page, right after the first. If that fixes things, that's the problem.

If that's the case, open the dialog under Layout>Layout Adjustment and check "Enable layout adjustment", and follow Broacher's advice. See if those make a difference.

If these moving images are inline graphics, you might be able to fix all by using "Align Toward Spine" or "Away from Spine" instead of their current settings.

I found it, I installed a beta version of a cool plug-in that allows you to edit the size and shape of individual pages within the same document. I am not usre what is causing the issue but I will write them and let them know. Thanks for your help.

Alan-- good one! I seem to recall that this alignment setting for masters was the basis on how you start a document on the left instead of the right as well.
