Does anyone else have issues opening Mac Archive/ZIP files on Windows machines?

when i zip a file on my mac i will use the "right click>archive file" option, but sometimes when i send them out to clients/vendors i'll get a call back saying they can't open them...

which makes me think that it's because they are using windows, but i tested it on my windows machine here and it opened fine... do you think it could be they are using an older version of winzip or something?

Yes, I would say if your are able to open them OK on your PC, that they need to update their WinZip. Also, make sure they are copying the ZIP to their C drive first. (Or saving it to a drive somewhere.) I have a lot of trouble with PC users trying to edit documents straight out of thier email, rather than saving them, and they working with them. Hope this helps...

I wonder if it has anything to do with the OS X archiving utility. I think
10.3.9 uses the BOMArchiveHelper to create archive files, but I'm not
sure what the exact utility is in 10.4.x. Maybe somebody knows...
I'm not a very good Unix geek this morning.

I have troouble with Mac users who right click and give me a ZIP file. Files get corrupted when I try to unzip or unstuff.
Mac users should .sit, PC users should .zip.

I would SIT, if the PC users I work with could, or would open SIT format. They always request ZIP, so that's what I send them. And actually, I use DropZip from Alladin, and I NEVER have problems with PC users unzipping, unless they're trying to do it from Outlook.

OK guys, I just re-read my firts post, and realized that it sounds like I'm bashing PC users. What I should have said was "I have trouble with some of the people I work with extracting ZIPs from thier email attachments." It's not PC users in general, it's certain people I work with. I have both a Mac and PC sitting on my desk.
Sorry. Peace?

Mac .zip archive can be a little weird. I'd go for the StuffIt .zip file for PC users.
Depending on the version of StuffIt, even .sit files can corrupt when emailed.
