if it was in dreamweaver, you could tile an image or have a bg colour and just set the table to 100%. but you're not. so i don't know. besides, dw blows.

yeah, that's what i said. it's got a table that runs 100% of the page and his actual picture (the cityscape) is only 377 x 70 px. you could handcode it or do it in a program like dreamweaver. i don't know from fireworks. go to that site and look at the code (view>source) and you'll be able to see what's been done.
luck!

That site's banner isn't done on a percentage i don't think!?! If it was set to 100% it would re-size when you made the window smaller, it doesn't... The only way i know to do it, if you don't want to go into ccs coding (not 100% sure that's the right abreviation!?!) is to set the table to 100%, keep any design and text on the left side, make a banner that isn't very wide, then set the bg colour of that cell to match the banner. That way the table can stretch to any size without affecting the banner...
btw i haven't ever used fireworks, and i'm certainly no pro! :D

looks like they have it in a table and parts of the header image are actually colored cells in between. We do it al the time as in www.mediapublishers.com (http://www.mediapublishers.com) top banner, it is actaull several pieces and the inbetween slices are just colored cells. It covers 100% of the top but isn't 100% bitmap image.
