If queasy comes easy when you're up high, you might want to skip this one.

Otherwise, an interesting twist on the panorama trick.

Jeff! 'HOW's' it goin? You know, I've been meaning to ask you a couple of things.

I know you're on just about every design-related forum known and unknown to humankind, and have been for many, many years. So here's the Q: have you ever seen anyone (including yourself?) with a total count like our feline friend Morea?

24THOUSAND+ ? !!!

Second Q: is there any sort of clinic you know of that might help?

BR - Kind of in "recovery" right now after finishing my second book. Hope all is well with you.

1.) Morea must not ever actually work - she is the posting queen of the forum world!

2.) I've gone to numerous doctors in regards to the vertigo. The scariest thing for me is when it have a bad episode while driving - I've actually had several panic attacks this year while getting disoriented while driving. Not fun. I do have some drugs I can take if things get bad - one is what they give MS patients. The condition I have - started by an inner virus - can go away at anytime or hang on for years. I just talked with a woman a couple weeks ago who has dealt with it for over 30 years. I'm at 2.5 years myself. Thanks for asking!

Woah, Broacher thats freakin awesome.

Btw, I am on a sports board where someone topped 50,000 posts last month. Took them 5 years to do it.... I think morea and kat are both on pace to top that after 5 years.

Uh, I love you guys too.

Broacher, I thought you said post count size didn't matter. Hrmph! :p

Jeff, vertigo? Man, that's got to be rough. I've had anxiety attacks before and can barely deal with those.

Size ALWAYS matters! (Did I just type that out loud?)

Yes, Morea - the vertigo thing is really bizarre. My doctor thinks I probably got the inner ear virus when I traveled a lot by plane (like five trips with multiple legs in a couple weeks) over 2.5 years ago. What really got my attention was when I just fell over in the shower one morning and broke several ribs on the side of the tub. I knew I had not slipped in the tub. I do have problems with heights, bridges, various forms of transportation, and moving real quickly. I'm also extra sensitive to earthquakes now. A couple weeks ago I was in a boat on a crabbing trip. I'd taken my drugs so I was feeling OK - but when I looked out at the horizon the nearby land was moving and the water was standing still. When driving I will come to a stop and it feels like the car/truck is still moving. It's really strange...

I don't normally have a problem with heights, but my boss showed me the view from atop the watchtower (our print shop is in an old armory) and when I looked up at the flag pole it felt like the world fell out from under me. It was a good thing that I had my back against the wall, I sure thought I was going to go right over backward. VERY scary.

Is there any chance that your vertigo will just "go away" given time?

There's post size... and then there's giant sequoias.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Morea presence-- but even caviar can be spread too thin. Have you ever (publicly) done a Grand total, of ALL the forums you haunt? Now, would you be willing to share that figure in front of a roomful of GDFers (with loaded tacos) and NOT say you have a forum addiction problem?

Yikes. Gotta get back to work!

Jeff, I can only imagine what that feels like ... the only time I get close to that is when I am really sick and my sinus's are so full it effects my ears and then the room begins to spin.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this on an ongoing basis http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v54/RedKittieKat/smilies/hugs.gif

Don't hurt nobody, neither.

Not so impressive, compared to 24,132 on ONE forum, is it?

Pretty impressive Mo ;)

I only regularly visit 4 forums of the dozens I used to haunt ... so here is my break down:

1. 16,098
2. 13,420
3. 2,485
4. 4,558 (with this post)

;)

As for heights ... I can't be up too high or it freaks me out. I can't even climb a ladder to the top... and I have trouble with stairs with open backs.... I don't get dizzy, but I do get cold and clammy and tend to freeze up. If I can see underneath me its all over :D

One time going to a house my brother was building he had me go check out the upstairs .. they had a makeshift stairway with no railings in the middle of the room ... didn't bother me at all going up.. but coming back down I could not take that first step... he had to come up and get me - I had to sit down and hold his hand working my way down, step by step.

Yes, that's the really odd thing - I could wake up one morning and it could be gone.

Thanks for your message. That's kind of what it's like ALL the time - and when my allergies are bad, or my sinuses are screwed up, it's much worse.

Jeff, I have a good friend who's going through this right now as well. Came out of apparently nowhere, and they had a lot of trouble diagnosing what was causing it apparently, but she's in your boat, basically, hoping for it to go away, getting panic attacks when it was at its worst, and not being able to stand movement in a car at times because of the disorientation she feels when things are moving in a way she just can't handle. She never fell like you did, but she did have to be off work for about a month, because she couldn't drive to work, so she worked from home. Even working on a computer was troublesome for her.

It's amazing how many other cases of this I have heard of in the past few months. The condition seems to best be defined as Labyrinthitis (http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic290.htm). Acupuncture has helped me some. The drug they have me on is Meclizine (http://www.medicinenet.com/meclizine/article.htm) and I most often take it when traveling. I do hope your friend is on the road to recovery.

She's much better than she was, Jeff, thanks for asking. The frustrating part for her was when people were having trouble diagnosing just exactly what was causing it. Finally she found a doctor who was able to pin it down to a virus in her inner ear, but she had some really sketchy diagnoses before that. And I think that was just adding to the stress.

I have a group of friends who meet for coffee each Thursday morning. We also all travel a lot by planes and four of the six people in the group complained about the symptons of this condition after long international flights. We were all going to our doctors individually until we realized what we had in common - which helped our doctors determine together that it was viral. It was also helpful to all the doctors that Celine Dion had the same condition with all the same symptoms and a great deal of news coverage. It was crazy - several of us had brain scans for possible tumors, I had all kinds of medical tests and, while I'm the only one who has had constant problems (and the only one who fell), the others still have their issues come and go.
