Does anyone know where I can find a really good hair brush/presets? I downloaded the one brush thats on exchange, I believe it's called hairy. I also have BlondHair preset from exchange, which is excellent but I could use more of both of these type of brushes/plugins.
Thanks in advance for any responses.:D

Why oh why oh why does everyone come looking for the magically do my job for me button?
The correct answer to the question "Where do I get hair brushes for photoshop" is: Make your own (http://www.digitalmediadesigner.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=19756).

Thanks for taking my teeth off my tongue hewligan.
There's just too many pieces out there that I've seen lately where 'canned' exotic brush textures have been splashed atop otherwise mediocre layout, concept and typework and declared 'mysterious and sophisticated'. I don't buy it. But I guess, some people are. At least for now. Another shiny, digital distraction.

I've never been good at biting my tongue - especially not when this is what goes through my head when I hear questions like that:
----
How I became a great artiste!
Now this is my totally hot ck1ckX0r that I made in pozer using the realistic girly-bits morph I got from my cousin who makes webcomics:
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/8537/oohfj8.jpg
But she's got no hair! That totally distracts me when I'm trying to, um, use her to "relax." Also, my friends on www.hotnekkidpozerch1ckx0rs laugh at me and call me Captain Baldy Ch1X.
Then I downloaded thes totally awesome hair brushes, and here's my ck1ckX0r now:
http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/8300/oohhairgq9.jpg
So now I'm, like, a totally awesome digital artist and write self-congratulatory tutorials all over the net!

See? Terrible at biting my tongue :)
Now, I suppose it's possible I'm completely wrong here. There may well be some legitimate and worthwhile reason for downloading hair brushes.
I just can't think what they would be.

While I agree that there are many abuses of canned effects and brushes and such, isn't it also a possibility that in the right hands they can be used effectively? Much like any tool. I thought the objective of a tool was to help in the completion of a task. If something helps with that, and the person using it is skilled in their objective, I'm not sure I see what's wrong with using something that someone else put together to make things easier.
I agree with the point you're trying to make Hewligan, but I'm not sure it's fair to jump on the original poster and make the assumption that he/she is going to be doing what you're parodying with your example.

While I suspect that what I said was fairly accurate, I probably was overly harsh.
To make it up, I'll offer some good advice. That advice is that this is really the wrong forum to be asking that particular question. A far better place to try for that sort of thing would be Renderosity (http://www.renderosity.com). While they are somewhat clogged with exactly the sort of thing I was talking about, they also have a lot of really talented artists who do some great digital painting work - some of whom probably do use downloaded hair brushes, though as some of their tutorials on hair painting demonstrate, you really don't need them.
They also seem to be a lot nicer than me :)

Thank you, urstwile.
Designers sure are clique-y and snobby sometimes. Sometimes it's good to take ourselves down a notch and not jump on people 24/7. I know I have to do this.

Elitism can also be another name for thin-sliced caring.
Imagine if someone came by here and asked for some help in locating additional variations of the font Comic Sans. Maybe I'm further prejudging here, but people are people, and I would predict that there would be a 'jump all over it' reaction from many happy to point out the travesty to typographic purity allegedly being perpetrated.
Still, I bet there could be some very valid cases for this request. Maybe it's a match-up or an extension to an existing style demand. Or perhaps there's a drawn comic illustration style where it's a perfect fit. How do we know there isn't?
People draw generalized conclusions all the time-- more subconsciously than conscious. Certain phrases, certain details will prime the decision and in many situations it's necessary to be discriminating. We're paid to discriminate. Sometimes we're wrong, but longer experience preconditions quicker discriminations. If that wasn't so, what would be the point of seeking expert judgement?
A good rule of thumb for anyone with less experience making a request for information from those with more, is to do a little research and judge whether or not the request you're making includes an upfront acknowledgement of the professional risks associated with it. It will get you a faster and more respectful answer, because you have taken the guesswork out of the knowledge gap between you and the expert.
Example: "I realize that Photoshop brushes are too commonly abused by many beginners, but know that I have a handle on how to use these with more discrimination, I wondered if anyone knew of a source of these brushes with a 'hair' theme that I could explore in my latest project."
It's also a matter of courtesy. And that's true for both parts. I guess I didn't see those graphic inclusions from hewligan until I turned on my image display on the forum. In retrospect, I think he went a little over the top there. (Another reason why I prefer to stick to text-only responses whenever I can!)
Sarcasm is a subjective thing, I know. And often very humorous. But it's extremely volatile in a forum setting. I speak from experience, having unintentionally offended more people than I care to remember over the years.
One of the things that happens in the social dynamics of a forum's evolution is the establishment of shared 'targets'. This forum is actually quite rare in it's degree of healthy 'inclusion' to the rank beginner, all the way up to the more advanced group of idiots. Nevertheless, there still is a lot of selective targeting to certain identified groups that remain very tempting to slam, or belittle. So-called 'stupid clients' has to be the most universal--and that's true of any specialized skilled group.
The 'obvious amateur' is another group that gets poked, though not as badly here as in other places. Boy, I hate sounding paternal, but if we're going to continue to get along, let's just consider adding just a bit more to our discussions to help clarify our experience and levels without any risk of condescending reprisals. I have found that on this board at least, the most helpful are often the most experienced, and very obliging to request for advice. Show them you appreciate their help by being a little more forthcoming in your requests and things should sail on smoothly.
My favorite comment of the week is still this...
i wonder if we can make this kind of clipart out of real photos in a fast way... like one click boala! clipart...
I just had to bring my Easy Button out for that one! :D

how about one of the brushes that are like a star in photoshop? or a starburst. I recently used one on a border and it looked like a hair line. might have to adjust the spacing of the brush though.
just a thought.

Alot of these have no usage restrictions, but some do - read what the creators have to say.
