Last week I loaded Acrobat 7.0.8 Pro and Pitstop 7.03 on a Intel Mac and a PC. I'm having an issue with a feature in Pitstop on both platforms. If anyone is familiar with and has access to these programs can you run a test for me? Here's the scoop. When I run "preflight-offset cmyk" to check mainly for missing fonts, it works fine the first time. When I go "font picker" and under the tab "system fonts" and pick my font to embed which it does I'm unable to run "preflight again" it errors out on both platforms. If I pick a font from "page" or "document" tab preflight works ok but it doesn't do me any good. We work on documents up to 3000 pages and need this feature. All earlier version work ok (earlier than 7). So if someone has this version software, just open a pdf, click some text go into "pitstop inspector" click font picker and choose your "system" tab and grab an open font from your computer, say ok, go to preflight and pick offset cmyk (anything you choose fails) and tell me what you get---Thanks! :)

Hey Jim, I do and will give it a shot.
Did you try over at Prepress Forums? The pdf guru lives over there.

Are you refering to Matt? If so, I got a feeling that guy (I do know someone who's met him in person) has an ego as big as a house. He was no help at all. I explained the problem to him and his response was " Not happening on my machine" which then I went into more detail about my issue and explained the problem only arises when using the "system font" tap and embedding fonts from your system. He never responded at all, which tells me there's a problem. After all, he's one of Enfocus's
boys. I've come to the conclusion from reading several of his threads that he seems to want money for further advice.

Sorry Jim, I'm on Pitstop 6.53 and not running Intel. I seem OK on fonts. Sounds like maybe the Intel? Dunno. Ya, Matt. He actually replied back with his cell # a few months back and walked me trough a problem. Maybe cuz he's out here on the west coast? Sorry.

I think it's a version thing because it happens on our pc too which has the same version loaded. About Matt, I've got more responses from 2 websites on this subject then his "not on my machines". I did find one work around however. If I print a pdf that I've embedded fonts and send to ApogeeX which will normalize the pdf, I can then take that ApogeeX pdf and run preflight again with success. This was also mentioned on PPF. So it sounds like a bug to me.

Yep, it does sould like a bug. And Matt was dodging a bullet.
Funny, in Prepress, there is, 95% of the time, a workaround.
But don't let any designers know that! So if you see any designers... shhhhhh.

I like to work fast or use less steps in a process if I can get away with it. I'd just hate having to print these pdfs to Apogee all the time.
