Anyone ever used it before?
Is it good compared to WinXP?
I'm thinking of downloading it because I was really impressed with Mozilla Firefox etc

Well, just because mozilla makes a good browser, doesn't mean Redhat makes a good OS. I dont really see how firefox being good is any indication that fedora is good, know what I mean. Having said that, I just upgraded my laptop to Fedora6 and I love it. Of course, I have been using redhat since version 8, then into the fedora line, so I might be kinda biased. If you have never used a linux os before, I suggest Ubuntu Linux.
Compared to winXP? **** windows. I would use fedora or ubuntu over windows any ****ing day of the week. Fedora and Ubuntu are good compared to any desktop os.

awsome, cheers mate
would you say its complicated for someone who has only ever used windows? I'll take a peek at Ubuntu - is that a different (free) company too?

Ubuntu is free as in beer and as in freedom.
If all you know is Windows, then yes, there is going to be a learning curve. It's not windows. The desktop metaphor is mostly the same, but there are differences. I don't think fedora, etc, are "hard", just different. Well, at this point, windows is the different one to me. It does everything backwards haha.
There are plenty of resources online if you have questions. Installing Fedora is pretty easy too. Same with Ubuntu. You might want to make sure your hardware is compatible. Video cards and wireless cards can be a bit of a hassle only because hardware developers are locked into the windows system for the most part.
Do you plan on installing this over windows, or do you want to dual boot? If you have a second drive this will be much easier.

Well, I just tried Ubuntu and I have good first impressions. It feels more compact and easy. Reminds me a lot of a Mac.
I have one hard-drive, so I want to run over windows completely if I'm going to change. Didn't have any probs with video or sound so I'm guessing all my hardware is okay with it.
Only thing is, will I still be able to install all the Adobe products I've bought?

No. They were written for windows.
You might have some luck with crossover office, but it costs money.
