Wassssup people!, I'm brand new and need to know a lot of sh**!
Firstly, im a corel user and i want to shift to other programmes that are as easy to use but be able to give me better quality, colour etc. please recommend. and also can some tell me about file type and file formats and how to work across platforms (windows & mac) and or programes i.e. to open a a corel document in freehand!

Big questions in that little paragraph.
Do you use a Mac or a PC. What operating system?
You may get a little razzing on the Corel thing but don't take it seriously. Several people here use it and can answer your cross program question.
If at all possible for you, pick up the Adobe Creative Suite, at least the standard version. That will give you Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Basically all you need for a good start in design. You can add web programs as well if you're into it.
Hang around, do some searches. Lot of stuff in here.
