how do you make a web banner?

I am new to computers but I want to make a web graphic banner. please respond!!

you've got to give us a little more information to go on though...at least, I need a bit more...

do you have a familiarity of any particular software? (photoshop, illustrator, goLive, dreamweaver, fireworks, flash, coreldraw...)

are you starting 100% from scratch, or are you a little bit web savvy?

it shouldn't be too hard either way - and you've definately come to the right place for advice!

Do you mean an advertising banner, or a banner for the top of your web page???
